Chinatown has always held a special place in my heart. It’s home to countless memories and deeply representative of the things I hold dear. This past weekend’s Firecracker Run was a beautiful reminder of that—community through and through. It was comforting to reconnect with childhood friends and equally meaningful to make new ones. Thank you, for giving us the opportunity to serve the community! Looking forward to next year!

Growing up in this community, the LA Chinatown Firecracker was more than just an event—it was a tradition that shaped our childhood. What began in the 1970s as a humble 10K run has since evolved into the largest Lunar New Year fitness event in the US, featuring runs, bike rides, and dog walks. Like so many others, we grew up participating, volunteering, and performing, creating lasting memories that connected us to our culture and community.

Proceeds support meaningful programs, including youth fitness initiatives, school field trips, fine arts programs, community events, and urban gardening projects.

This year, we’re especially excited to introduce our dedicated RECOVERY ZONE for runners—so after the race, come recharge, hang out, and say hi!

The Firecracker Run has been supporting local communities in Chinatown for 47 years, benefiting schools, parks, and nonprofit organizations. It has made a meaningful impact on places like Castelar and Alpine, where I grew up—playing basketball, learning, and building a strong foundation that has helped me get to where I am today.

DangPT is giving back to the community this year by volunteering at the Firecracker run on March 9th 8an -12pm: Come join us—get a tune-up, chat about injury prevention, and hang out!
