Sometimes, the most healing thing we can do is let ourselves cry. 😭

We’re not breaking down. We’re releasing! 🦋

Emotional tears literally help the mind and body recover from stress. Here’s why:

💧Tears flush out cortisol and adrenaline
(the hormones that surge from our brain throughout our body) while boosting oxytocin and endorphins (the hormones that help us feel soothed and safe).

When we allow ourselves to cry, we are moving through pain, skillfully. ✨🧠

Crying is our nervous system’s way of saying, “I can’t hold this anymore…let’s release it” 🕊️

It’s how our body completes the stress cycle, resets our energy, and opens space for peace to return. ☮️

You’re not weak for feeling deeply. You’re wise for letting it flow. ✨🌊💫

My first introduction to Buddhism was back in my Master’s program, and one of the things I deeply admire is how it frames pain and suffering. 🌿

Buddhism teaches that pain is an inevitable part of life. We will experience loss, change, heartbreak, sickness, grief, betrayal, and hardship. 💯

But suffering is the layer we add on top when we 👉🏽resist, judge, shame, or get caught in the stories we tell ourselves about that pain. 💡

In Buddhism, there’s a teaching call the TWO ARROWS:

🏹1st Arrow- is the unavoidable pain that life throws our way.
🏹2nd Arrow- is the suffering we create by how we respond (through self-criticism, shame, replaying “why me?”, or allowing the wound to take over).

We can’t always control the first arrow, but “the work” is how we respond to the second arrow. That’s where growth, resilience, challenge, healing, and breakthrough live. 🔥
