The first time Todd Cooney, DVM, CVH, used homeopathy in practice was with a black Lab named Shade, whose owners brought him in with symptoms of heat stroke. Dr. Cooney differentiated between two remedies and ultimately chose Aconite. "About 30 seconds later, as we continued to rapidly prepare other measures, my tech remarked, “Hey look, she’s acting better!” And, in fact, she was! Her posture was more relaxed, she was making better eye contact, her breathing rate had improved, and she was even beginning to wag her tail a bit. It had only been a minute or so since I had administered the remedy, but we took her temperature again, and it was already down to 103.5°F. I gave her another dose of Aconitum and didn’t do anything else. Five minutes later, Shade’s temp had dropped below 102°F, which is in the normal temperature range for dogs, and she seemed completely normal, too.
