Sending love and support
Larry
At the beginning of the month, we set a intention: to share Black people's contributions to yoga, including highlighting those shaping history today. We are beyond proud to support Black Yoga Teachers Alliance, an organization that fully embodies that ethos, providing a space for teachers, students, practitioners, healers, and enthusiasts to connect.
As Black Yoga Teachers Alliance approaches its 10th year, Executive Director Jana Long shares, "Our mission remains rooted in the belief that yoga flourishes when those teaching it are visible, supported, and equipped to lead with authenticity and skill.
The vision that inspired our founding was broad, encompassing liberation, peace, and well-being for everyone. Over time, BYTA has become a trusted space where teachers can deepen their practice, expand their skills, and forge relationships based on shared experience and purpose.
Through conferences, workshops, and ongoing education, BYTA creates spaces where Black teachers can deepen their practice, strengthen their professional pathways, and build meaningful relationships rooted in shared experience. This effort broadens yoga’s reach by making the practice more responsive, inclusive, and reflective of the communities it serves.
As we look ahead, working with Yoga Alliance offers powerful opportunities to amplify impact through collaboration, and a shared commitment to support teachers while strengthening the future of yoga. When our organizations align, we create greater possibilities for connection and lasting change.”
