¡Mi gente! It’s been extra hard and intense lately. We are experiencing collective traumas, some more directly than others - especially communities in the Middle East, Congo, Sudan, and recently communities in Guatemala, Chile, and more.
Witnessing others’ pain has detrimental effects, including vicarious trauma. It can also reignite wounds we carry ancestrally or from earlier experiences in our lives.
Part of our response includes avoidance as a way to “protect” ourselves - numbing ourselves with work, substances, food, drama, etc.
While it’s important to disconnect at times for activities promoting wellbeing, and to help us sustain ourselves in the long run, collective pain calls for collective healing. We must find ways to root deep into our wisdom, care, and feel supported by others, our well ancestors and by the energies of the Great Mother and Great Father.
Isolation is not the answer; it only promotes more time for unhelpful thoughts to take hold and for behaviors to soothe us at any cost.
We are being called to heal in community, to see each other as we are, respect one another, collaborate, and find ways to move forward. Separation is the tool of the oppressor (divide and conquer).
I know how easy it is to want to retreat to your cave and stay there. I’ve been there and done that, but that only provides comfort in the short term. To continue this marathon of liberation, we need you well, in strong communities, and feeling supported.
That is exactly how I see the retreat and I co-created. We weave healing, liberation, from a trauma-informed perspective (with over 16 years of experience), integrating ancestral and soul wisdom, with compassion, ease, and joy.
We know times are tough financially; we’re feeling it too. That’s why we’re continually problem-solving ways to make it more affordable and sustainable for us as well.
