The Center for Cholesterol Management

The Center for Cholesterol Management Dr. Richman is a board-certified cardiac surgeon, dedicated to treating lipid disorders using cuttin

The Center for Cholesterol Management is the only free-standing facility in Southern California using NMR-based lipoprotein testing to deliver state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of lipid disorders. It is the only test that provides both traditional lipids and the number of atherogenic particles to better identify and manage patients at risk for coronary heart disease. Thanks to new research,

we understand that heart disease, or blocking of arteries, is caused by lipoprotein particles and not by cholesterol. Cholesterol and triglycerides cannot move through the artery wall unless they are carried inside a lipoprotein particle. Lipoprotein particles serve as the vehicles that transport cholesterol in the blood™. These are the particles that can build up in a person's arteries and cause a heart attack. We all know keeping your "bad" cholesterol (LDL-C) low is important. While measuring is helpful, knowing these numbers isn't enough for all patients. No matter how much cholesterol is being carried by these lipoprotein particles, studies show time and again, it is the number of various lipoprotein particles present that contribute to heart disease.

I hope you read my new article. It will help you understand what is happening to the field of medicine. It will also shed light on the reason why your doctor may have just abruptly retired or is no longer taking your insurance.

In recent years, venture capital firms have aggressively entered the healthcare arena, taking over hospitals and medical practices across the United States. What was once a field driven primarily by the principles of care and compassion is increasingly becoming a profit-driven enterprise.

One of the lessons I learned by becoming Heart Surgeon-“Doing the simple thing is usually more than enough. Make someone smile whenever you can. You never know how much of a difference you could make in their respective lives at that very moment. It takes little effort, but could matter more than you will know. Lift somebody else up through kind words and by showing the simple respect that each one of us is entitled to as a human being. Ego is futile. At the end of the day, we are all the same.” https://open.substack.com/pub/doc4heart/p/5-things-i-learned-by-becoming-a?r=1nw0v9&utm_medium=ios
