Not all pain is created equal, and neither is the way we treat it. Understanding the type of pain you're experiencing is key to creating the right recovery plan.
- Acute pain is short-term. It's usually caused by a clear injury, like a sprain, strain, or muscle pull. The body responds with inflammation to protect and begin healing.
Treatment goals: reduce inflammation, protect the area, and support natural healing with targeted movement once the pain starts to ease.
- Chronic pain lasts longer than 3 months. It often continues after the original injury has healed, or develops without a specific event. This kind of pain is usually driven by compensation patterns, joint restriction, postural stress, or nervous system hypersensitivity.
Treatment goals: restore proper movement, address the root imbalances, and retrain the body to feel safe again in motion.
Whether it's a recent injury or long-standing issue, the right approach to pain starts with understanding why it's happening.
