Congratulations to all the winners of today’s Los Angeles Business Journal Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards! We’re proud to be in the company of so many incredible organizations doing vital work across Los Angeles.

While the awards are a competition, we know that thousands of nonprofits in this city are making a deep and meaningful impact, and each one is a winner in our book.

Wellnest’s VP of Communications and Public Affairs Rebecca Haussling welcomed Ryan T. Hall, District Representative for Senator Lola Smallwood-Cuevas, for a hard hat tour of The Nest on Exposition.

Wellnest’s mission closely aligns with the Senator’s priorities around addressing homelessness, expanding access to healthcare, and advancing economic opportunity.

The Nest on Exposition features 25 modular units on the corner of S. Vermont and Exposition, and will provide on-site mental health services and workforce development programming for transitional-aged youth (18-25.)

We are grateful for the continued support and engagement of local legislators like Senator Smallwood-Cuevas and her office representatives who are working hard to expand affordable housing, improve access to care, and strengthen workforce pathways in South LA, where this important project will serve as a hub for hope and healing!

💙 “I am very grateful for the services I received at Wellnest,” shares Maria. When Maria’s mother entered hospice care, she didn’t realize how deeply the loss would affect her. After her mother passed, Maria struggled with depression, isolation, and overwhelming grief.
Everything began to change when she was introduced to Wellnest. Through therapy, Maria learned healthy coping tools like mindfulness, breathing exercises, art, and self-care.
Today, Maria says she is happy and at peace—and she now shares what she’s learned with her daughter, family, and friends. 💫
Her advice to others: “Go to therapy. Seek the opportunity to get help.”
