Our in-house animal-assisted therapy program includes therapeutic equine work, farm animal caretaking, and therapy dog interactions, facilitating emotional regulation, trust-building, and nonverbal processing, particularly effective for adolescents with attachment disruptions or difficulty with verbal expression.

Together, we will explore case conceptualization through attachment informed and DBT lenses while engaging in thoughtful discussion with fellow professionals in the field.

We are honored to host Daniel Ahearn, LMFT 143021, an IAT-certified attachment specialist (AAI/FFI informed) and one of only six in the country with this rare expertise.

At Ascend, we know that healing requires patient nurturing. In our homes, outdoor activities are more than chores; they are designed as therapeutic moments. Tending to these small sprouts allows our residents to practice the same consistency, patience, and care they must ultimately show themselves.

This hands-on engagement is a core part of our Eco-Therapy approach, which utilizes the natural world to help adolescents reduce cortisol and improve emotional regulation.
