You’re obsessed with food 24/7 and your eating feels out-of-control.

⚡ You try to be “good” and “eat healthy” all day long, only to end up binging secretly in the light of the fridge late at night.

⚡ You feel like the words “addicted to food” or “emotional eating” explain everything about your eating.

⚡ You don’t trust your body to tell you when, how much, or what to eat.

⚡ You’ve spent years trying to change your body… but still feel unhappy about it.

⚡ You logically understand that diets don’t work, but without rules, you’re not sure how to eat in a way that feels good both emotionally and physically.

⚡ You’re tired of being at war with your body and just want something different, but you don’t know how to get there on your own. Find out how you could start feeling better about food and your body today! https://daretonotdiet.com/contact

I feel this so much.

Last year I wrote a romance novel with a plus size character and a fatter friend (who I hope will get her own book in the near future). I'm beginning the yucky work of searching for an agent and I'm dreading the fatphobia I know I'll probably encounter. But I wish I'd read more fat, awesome characters in books when I was young so it feels important to pursue it now.

(PS - I first heard of the writer of this article on Virginia Sole-Smith's Burnt Toast podcast and I can't wait to read Housemates!)

Why does fiction do such a bad job of portraying fat characters?

"... if you zoom out from yourself and your personal choices a bit, you’ll realize that using your platform to reject an entire set of principles isn’t just unnecessary, it’s insidious. You’re disguising your rejection as a new kind of message, one progressive and important enough to share to however many followers you have and rally them in support of the brave new path you’re claiming to pave. Sadly, your message isn’t new at all — it’s diet culture rhetoric repackaged with a glossy coat of bodily autonomy, the same bodily autonomy you learned from the community you now claim to reject."

a reframe for fat influencers who think people care that they're getting thin

Classic episode with me and Summer Innanen.

You'll have to listen and remind me what I said...I never listen to myself after a podcast 🤣.

I chat with Glenys Oyston – Registered Dietician, blogger and podcaster – brings the sass as we blow up the B.S around weight, health and dieting and why it’s so hard to let go of the seductive appeal of dieting.

A while back Body Kindness with Rebecca Scritchfield, RDN and I did an awesome little podcast series on her Body Kindness podcast about diabetes and how that looks when you're not being restrictive.

If you have blood sugar concerns, it's worth a listen!

I loved this conversation between Erica Leon Nutrition LLC and Rebecca Stetzer about Ozempic and how diet messages are everywhere, how doctors are prescribing this without understanding the risks to certain populations, and my favorite, Ellyn Satter models! Really informative listen.

It's true - most clothing doesn't fit well unless you are the size of air with the shoulders of a hanger (aka not a human because yes, even thin people encounter fit issues).

I learned how to make clothing as a kid (I made my 8th grade graduation dress in home ec) and recently returned to it (with lots to learn still) and if you are plus size and interested, Jenny Rushmore of Cashmerette has a book coming out soon that teaches you how to sew (I've already got mine pre-ordered). I use Cashmerette patterns exclusively and they fit really well and Jenny's first book teaches how to alter patterns so they fit you exactly (trust me, this is not that hard when you have instructions!).

I know most people will not have time to learn to sew but for those looking for a hobby - learning to sew is pretty easy and you'll actually have clothes that fit!

I'll put the link to the books in the comments!

Thrilled to see this article in the all about what the Cashmerette community is so familiar with: that ready to wear clothes are made for the masses and are unlikely to ever fit you, and that sewing your own is an amazing way to break free! Also delighted to see the link to Cashmerette too 😍

I hope this (rare!) article in the mainstream media will help bring even more people into the sewist fold!
