How do you feel about the current state of MMJ?
Current thoughts are:
Prices are stable, variety of price points are plentiful, locations are safe, parking is easy, lab testing is provided.
That said, there are struggles.
Strain lineage has become unclear, am I the only one who misses original strain lineage? Chocolope anyone? GGP? Pre98?
Strain selection seems less plentiful than it did in the early 2000's, especially when it comes to sativas. Sativas may grow significantly slower and produce less yield, what a shame as these are some of the most interesting flavors and produce some of the most interesting effects.
Freshness is a real concern. Prepackaged lots are sitting on the shelves for who knows how long. Harvest dates are usually hidden, and bud tenders roll their eyes whey you ask for what's fresh. Usually the best you can find is a packaged date - however how long has it been sitting prior to packaging? When paying top dollar, consumers want fresh.
Analyzing your herb before purchase in a post covid world has become tough.
Very few shops let you look and smell the stock, typically you have a little plastic window to look at with no way to smell.
Lab testing is provided on everything now, which sounds great. However, are we sold on these lab tests? Is there some tom-foolery in this segment of the industry? Do the tests actually test for pesticides that can cause us harm? Time will tell.
What are your thoughts?
