Three years ago I performed a minimally invasive emergency operation to remove an obstructing colon cancer for my patient. I also placed his port device so he could get chemotherapy. Today he returned to me to remove the port, cancer free and doing great! Such a nice surprise to see him in the office today, it really made my day!
The other day after missing a family event to perform another emergency surgery, this time on a hiatal hernia where the stomach was caught and twisted in the chest, someone asked me if I liked what I do… my response is always the same, “it’s hard, but it’s very rewarding and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else” my patients make it worth it!
I am always happy that I can help someone and be a part of their lives. It’s the classic med school answer, “I want to be a doctor to help people.”Elegant in its simplicity but grand in its implication, it is why we go through over 10yrs of training to do this!

Determination, focus, sacrifice, patience will always overcome. Most people will look at a situation and say “I can’t because..” 😳 we have to change this perception and instead of saying “I can’t…” try to say “I don’t want to because…” 🧐 then take the time to work on the reasons why.
🤨when you change your perception you change your world and put the power in your own hands. When you say “I can’t” you’ve already lost, long before the battle has even begun!
