Through the Woods Therapy

Through the Woods Therapy My name is Jennie Steinberg, and I've been practicing therapy for 15 years. I am a strength-based,

Permanently closed.

A guiding principle of the work that I do is that there are infinite right ways to live a life. If you're not harming anyone and you feel good on the inside, you're probably doing okay! I specialize in helping clients navigate their identities, improve their self-esteem and body image, and thrive with ADHD. I am also passionate about working with clients who are managing reproductive choices and c

hallenges, including: family planning, infertility, pregnancy, and the transition to new parenthood. Therapy with me promotes healing, and also usually includes some laughter, a bit of cussing, space for a lot of big feelings, and the consistent message that you are enough.

New blog post! (It's been awhile!) This is something that comes up, in one way or another, with almost every client I see. Would love to hear if you've tried anything on the list and how it's worked, or if you have any tools that I didn't include?

In over a decade of private practice, I’ve never spoken to a single client who was inspired to seek therapy predominantly because they’re unhappy with the way they use their phone. And yet, hundreds of clients have expressed to me that they wish they could change this. Getting sucked into a cell...

I just posted this YouTube video, trying to summon my followers on my now-dormant account there over to my Instagram feed, where I'm making lots of content. But I'm also sharing it here, because it's an update about what I've been up to professionally, and some things that are currently in the works.

By the way, if you want to follow me on Instagram, you can find me over there at "throughthewoodstherapy".

A short video to update you about the state of my practice, and where you can find more content from me if you miss seeing my enthusiastic face on your YouTu...

Sometimes songs stop me dead in my tracks and make me wish I could share them with all of my clients and everyone in my life. So I'm going to share them here.

This one grabbed me by the guts and twisted. (Many thanks to for recommending it.)

The first slide is what made me stop what I was doing, listen closer, and restart the song to hear all the lyrics.

The second slide is the lyric that's become my anthem. If you listen to the song (which you should) you'll notice that the first time they sing this hook, it's almost whispered tentatively, and then by the end of the song, she's belting it with confidence and joy. It makes me throw my fist into the air every time.

The song featured here is The Sun by .

Oof this one is huge, and what I've written about here is just the tip of the iceberg.

When you become parents, you and your partner opt in for a 24/7 shared project. It completely reconfigures the dynamic of your relationship. You depend on each other so differently than before you were parents.

It's amazing watching someone you love grow into a parenting role, but the new way you need each other can take a huge toll.

Here are some of the ways your relationship with your body changes when you become a parent.

This struggle is so real. Some people feel like they need to re-learn how to live in their own skin after having a baby.

I'm sharing some screenshots of my Google calendar here to show how the complexity of my relationship with time increased exponentially when I had a child, and then even more so when I had a second child.

It's a perfect representation, and also, looking at this, I'm feeling a little bit 🤯.

When you become a parent, your relationship with time fundamentally changes.

This post is just the tip of the iceberg.

How has your relationship with time changed since having children?

I'm so obsessed with the fact that there's a word for this!

It was coined by Dana Raphael (the same medical anthropologist who coined the word "doula") in the 1970s and was revived by Alexandra Sacks in the New York Times a few years ago.

Stay tuned for some "new moms" content in the next few days.
