This week at La Mascota in Managua, the team performed their first case entirely on their own. ♥️🇳🇮

What began with limited resources and a belief in what was possible has grown into a local team, a government-supported cath lab, and a program with real momentum.

For years, Mending Kids has stood alongside this work, showing up, supporting training, and helping build toward this moment. 🦋

The first patient mended, independent of missions. We look forward to being back with them in a few weeks to build on this momentum.

In 2025 at SSRN Hospital, Mediclown de l’Île continued its weekly presence alongside children and their families.

Each week, medical clown interventions support children during medical examinations, procedures, waiting periods, and ward visits — bringing emotional support, easing stress, helping and empowering children in their care journey.

In November, an intensified presence during the Mending Kids paediatric cardiology mission provided additional support to children undergoing complex heart procedures.

Since 2018, this work has been made possible thanks to the continued support of Novaterra— providing additional emotional support for children, families, and healthcare staff throughout the hospital experience.

In Guatemala, nearly 100 children received life-changing care in just one week. 💙🇬🇹

This mission also offered a small group of students the chance to experience what the delivery of global health care really looks like in an underserved setting.

They observed, supported families, and showed up with so much heart. It’s a reminder that compassion doesn’t wait for a certain age.
