ICU nurses are the very best of humanity. It’s important we all know that.

Love, a doctor who is who she is because of ICU nurses.

Why don’t we all just stop spending money on dumb and useless things because the American economy doesn’t deserve us right now.

I will proudly lose followers and a spot on the fyp in exchange for a definitive stance on what is right and what is wrong. Have we had enough yet?

2016.

I was in the midst of a highly toxic training program for plastic surgery. The ones who saved me? My husband and kids. I delivered Riya mid year. My husband surprised me with tickets to see Beyonce just weeks after she was born. I’ll never forget pumping in the car before hopping out for the concert and then pumping on the way back. He made me feel so pretty and she made me feel so inspired. Clearly Beyonce also had to overcome a bunch of self-important clowns who chronically downgraded her potential as well.

Riya was an easy baby. Sometimes I feel guilty looking back at that year because I felt like she put up with so much. I was beyond stressed and misunderstood at work, but somehow found the greatest pockets of happiness the minute I entered my home. She was always happy, smiling and just … easy.

2016 was also the year I turned 30. I guess that tells you a lot about what I’m turning this year. I have accomplished a lot in the past decade, but I still get emotional thinking about how much my family was there for me when I needed them then and when I need them now. Still smiling, still easy …

The Art in Surgery

There is Art, and there is Science. Art is creative, subjective, and personal. Science is algorithmic, objective, and ubiquitous. The beauty of Plastic Surgery to me, is that it encompasses both Art and Science.

After graduating medical school, I completed residencies in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. After 8 years of training, I chose to pursue an additional fellowship year in Microsurgery. I chose a longer road than many, but each training program has afforded me a unique skillset to make whole again what is lost to trauma and cancer. Cancer treatment is complex, and as a board certified General Surgeon I can speak the language of your Surgical Oncologist. I understand the role of radiation, chemotherapy, and how they affect surgical options. As a Plastic Surgeon I understand the nuance of reconstruction. Every patient deserves a uniquely tailored reconstructive plan that considers every part of their cancer, treatment, and preferences. Microsurgery fellowship has afforded me what I am most proud of: I am well trained to provide the entire gamut of reconstructive surgery.

I want to hear your story and be a part of your journey. I will always advocate for you, the patient. Feel empowered to curate your surgical team. Choose a surgeon who has trained extensively, completed a fellowship program in the specialty you need, and brings you confidence. I specialize in all cancer and trauma reconstruction, with special interest in Breast Reconstruction. Whether you are planning to undergo breast cancer surgery, considering delayed reconstruction, or have already undergone reconstruction but looking for an improved result, the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team at Cedars-Sinai can help. We have world class facilities and dedicated staff. Our Breast Center is internationally renowned for being on the forefront of research and clinical endeavors. Let our team fight for you.
