After working with thousands of women as a Functional Nutritionist & Body Transformation Specialist, these are the less obvious mistakes I see keeping women stuck:

1️⃣ Hidden inflammation — not just from processed food, but from food sensitivities, environmental toxins, and even a dysregulated nervous system. Inflammation keeps your body in “protect mode” — and fat loss stalls until it’s addressed.

2️⃣ Not eating enough nutrients — cutting calories but starving your body of minerals, protein, and micronutrients. This leaves you exhausted, hormonally depleted, and holding onto weight instead of releasing it.

3️⃣ Pushing harder in the gym without syncing nutrition — overtraining on a stressed-out, under-fueled body only drives cortisol higher. Without aligning training + diet, your body adapts in the opposite direction of fat loss.

4️⃣ Chasing weight loss as a separate goal — ignoring things like fatigue, brain fog, bloating, or poor sleep. The body doesn’t compartmentalize. Fixing these “other symptoms” is often the fastest route to fat loss.

✨ These are the patterns I see every day.
They’re not obvious, and they’re not simple.
That’s why lasting results don’t come from just another diet or workout plan. They come from understanding your body’s unique signals… and having the right strategy to respond to them.

GPL-1s are not all bad.. BUT we need to think big picture and not short term gains.

As a functional nutritionist and someone who struggled with their weight over 20 years, you’d probably assume I was against the use of GPL-1s

I’m not, but…

I have a lot of reservations. I do not believe those taking them are educated in what’s really happening inside their bodies when they take them, and the persistent short cuts people want to take will inevitably lead to bigger issue - if not managed correctly.

I really appreciate my current clients on GPL-1s coming forward and saying ‘I want to do this the right way’ 🙏🏼

Whatever choice you make about GPL-1s for yourself, please take it from someone who understands the body, use it as an accelerator not a short cut, whilst nourishing your body and learning to appreciate it ❤️

Got to work on my flexibility …

But seriously isn’t this cool??

As someone who struggled most of her life with stubborn fat and acne, making me very self conscious, it’s incredible to see how the shifts I made over the years have equated to me having a current bio age of 26 (at 40 years old) !!🤯

I am pretty certain, if I would have continued with the dieting I did back in my 20s —my bio age would be a lot older than my real age right now.🙏🏼

I think having a younger bio age is such a flex 🤌🏼 much better than focusing on the scales or dress size for sure!!

So if you are looking to lose weight, do it the right way to not stress your body further and age you faster 🫡

Your body isn’t sabotaging you. It’s saving you.

I know it doesn’t feel that way when you’re staring at stubborn belly fat or fighting another 3pm sugar craving. But hear me out.

☝🏼That fat around your middle? Your body is literally storing energy near your vital organs because it thinks you might need it for survival.

☝🏼Those cravings that feel completely out of control? Your body is panicking for quick fuel because it doesn’t know how to efficiently tap into your fat stores.

☝🏼That metabolism that seems to have given up on you? Your body slowed it down because it thinks you’re in a famine.

✨Your body has kept you alive through every crash diet, every stressful season, every time you pushed yourself to exhaustion. It’s been protecting you this whole time.

What if instead of fighting it, you started listening to what it’s trying to tell you?

Everything I do with my clients starts here - understanding that your body isn’t broken, it’s just following old instructions.

➡️ These mistakes will slow your weight-loss down:

1️⃣ Not truly understanding body composition and how it works - therefore obsessing with the scales. Not only will this mean you will always be trying to lose weight but will leave you miserable too.
2️⃣ Focusing on calories in vs calories out. The body is more complexed than this. This approach will likely leave you nutrient deficient and exhausted = stress in body = holding on to fat (especially belly fat)
3️⃣ Focusing on weightloss as a separate issue to all your other negative symptoms, means you are working against your body and not with your body. Making the journey longer and more difficult.

I made all of these mistakes over many years - constantly dieting and never feeling great. They were never sustainable approaches, so I was always ‘on another diet’.

If you can understand body composition and heal any dysfunctions, obtaining your idea body weight (*composition*) is much easier, and effortless to maintain 👏🏼

💡Grateful for the Information Age! 📚

Reflecting on my health journey, I can't help but marvel at the transformation the Information Age has brought. Back when I was suffering, information was scarce, and finding guidance was a daunting task. 💔

In those days (showing my age😂), there were fewer resources and limited people to turn to for advice. It was a different world, and getting the right information was like finding a needle in a haystack. 🌾

Today, we are fortunate to have a wealth of knowledge and a supportive community just a tap away. 📲 From researching symptoms to connecting with experts and fellow warriors, the contrast is astonishing. 🙌
