The new moon practice of planting seeds for ourselves to flourish is a monthly endeavor. It gives us a reminder to consider what we are moving toward. The new moon itself offers us a pause. It calms us and makes us tired. If you’re able, lean into relaxation for the next day or few. Take time to stare into space, ponder, meditate, and walk without interruptions.
Rest well!
May our dreams of (and work toward) more peace, compassion, and equality come true!

Use Malasana for grounding, stabilizing, rooting, strengthening and for turning inward, becoming reflective, and easing into the movement of your lungs. Seeds grow into plants with nourishment and attention. Give your body both.

SPRING SERIES
As always, we conclude our series with a quiet posture. Once you have explored your mind, heart, and body, it is invaluable to pause and passively take in whatever came up during your practice. Some things will stick and some will go away until another practice brings them back up. Take it in. Give yourself a break.
Vrajasana or any comfortable seat
Take 10 long breaths here.
Savasana
Give yourself 5-30 minutes of laying down to let your body rest and restore after your practice.

Happy Spring!

SPRING SERIES
Grounding. Flowing. Heating. Building! We are growing our poses, our ideas, creations, our gardens. Once the groundwork is laid, we get to enjoy the process of what we’re doing. So, with this squat, we can hold. We can move back and forth into it from Tadasana. We can flow through Cat and Cow, which utilizes the work we’ve been doing by root through the lower half, flowing through spinal movements and embracing the building of heat. Let your breath and your body advise you what to do!
Utkatasana Variation
A strongly rooting posture.
Start your practice by standing and feeling the ground. Breathe deeply as you scrunch and stretch your toes. Shift your weight around until it’s even. Tone up your legs into your hips and core. Lengthen to the sky. Squat into a wide chair pose and proceed. Hold for 5-10 Cat / Cow repetitions.

SPRING SERIES
As promised, our third posture squeezes into that solar plexus, bringing some heat to the grounding, flowing spring series. When setting up a posture like this, a big life event, or even a new idea, take the steps to follow the process. Pause and take a few deep breaths. Ground yourself. Make space for movement. Plan it out. Go!

Parivrtta Parsvakonasana Variation
A solar plexus posture that requires the use of roots to make space to lengthen, widen and breathe.
Take time to place your feet deliberately in a Lunge. Feel them touch the ground. Push them evenly down. Move your breath through the pose. Plant your hand and twist. Start small and breathe into it. The activity of a pose doesn’t require immediacy. It can be done thoughtfully. It can be prepared.
Enjoy the process!

SPRING SERIES
This sequence of postures can be done in pieces or together. Our second pose taps into the root and sacral chakras, stimulating both our ability to stabilize and to be fluid. Try sitting still in the pose, breathing deeply, and feeling the energy move into your lower half. Then try some of the variations we added for a flow or a heating element. More on working into the solar plexus tomorrow!
Diamond Pose / Baddha Konasana Variation
Enjoy for 1-5 minutes

It’s Spring!
The plants are going crazy; flowers emitting their sweet scent; and the weather is unpredictable. It’s a bit difficult to get a handle on things. Activities are building up. We’re getting busier. Our senses are being bombarded. It’s a good time to come back to our roots. So, please enjoy this, the first pose of our SPRING SERIES:
Malasana / Squat
For tapping into the Root Chakra to achieve a sense of stability and grounding in any circumstance.
Take your time to be in the pose and breathe in the pose. Stay for up to 2 minutes as long as you can keep those legs working. Otherwise, try sitting on a block and stay for up to 5.
Notice how you feel upon completion of this posture.
