San Fernando Valley Counseling Center

San Fernando Valley Counseling Center Since 1971, the SFVCC has offered low-cost counseling services to those in need. We are currently serving over 300 clients. Our fees are very affordable.

The San Fernando Valley Counseling Center is a self supporting, nonprofit agency, which provides low-fee, psychological counseling to the community, on a sliding scale basis. We also provide outreach services to the community, as well as referral sources. Licensed professionals from the mental health field donate their time to train, supervise, and provide continuing education to our volunteer counselors. We provide long and short term counseling for individuals, couples and families. We also provide 16 weeks of training and supervision for Masters’ level students, interns and volunteers from the community. When counselors have the appropriate training they will see clients at the Center on an ongoing basis.

Facing the harsh reality: Su***de is a significant public health concern in California. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2019 alone, the age-adjusted su***de rate in California was 11.1 per 100,000 individuals. These numbers are not just statistics; they represent lives lost, families shattered, and communities left grieving.

It’s crucial to recognize the magnitude of this issue and take action to prevent further tragedies. We need to foster open conversations about mental health, eliminate stigma, and provide accessible resources and support to those who are struggling. Together, we can make a difference and save lives.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, remember that help is available. You are not alone, and there is hope. Let’s work together to create a world where every life is valued and supported. 💙

Let’s navigate this journey together, one step at a time. We’ve curated these gentle challenges as an invitation to care for ourselves and each other, fostering resilience and connection.

MAKE A GRATITUDE LIST: Take a few minutes at the end of the day to write down three things you’re grateful for. Reflecting on the positives can help shift your focus and mindset.

DIGITAL DETOX: Disconnect from screens for at least one hour today. Use this time to engage in offline activities that bring you joy and relaxation.

MINDFUL BREATHING: Practice deep breathing exercises for 5 minutes. Focus on your breath, inhaling deeply through your nose and exhaling slowly through your mouth. This can help reduce stress and promote relaxation.

SPENT TIME IN NATURE: Spend time outdoors surrounded by nature. Take a leisurely walk in a park, forest, or beach, and immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and smells of the natural world. Connect with the healing power of nature.

REACH OUT TO SOMEONE: Reach out to a friend or loved one and check in with them. Ask how they’re doing and offer your support. Connecting with others can provide a sense of belonging and strengthen your social support network.

Join us in embracing these acts of self-love and compassion as we honor our mental well-being.
