This is a group for art therapists who are seeking supervision hours needed for ATR (Registered Art Therapist) certification, stipulated by the Art Therapy Credentialing Board (ATCB). Interested in becoming an Art Therapist? Here is a little infographic I whipped up with the basic steps (referenced from the Art Therapy Credentials Board website: https://atcb.org/registration-standards/). Please check with your state for specific clinical licensing requirements. In California a conjoint primary clinical license (LMFT, LCSW, LPC, etc.) is required to get your art therapy registration (ATR) and you are able to acquire the ATR while still completing hours for clinical licensure (i.e. as an Associate/Intern).

For those of you working towards your Art Therapy Registration (ATR)- The latest Newsletter states the ATCB is allowing 1:1 Group supervision hours to count towards registration 🥳. This means group supervision hours count the same as individual.

https://atcb.org/summer-2023-message-from-the-president/

"The Board of Directors continues identifying structural areas of the ATCB requiring review. One area we are working on are the registration standards for the Registered Art Therapist credential (ATR). These standards were to undergo an audit in 2022. Because of the disruptive nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board opted to pause the audit of the registration standards. This work will resume with the new credential year beginning July 1, 2023. The Board has created an Ad Hoc committee of art therapists to help review the current registration standards and identify gaps and/or areas needing revision. While this review is being conducted, the ATCB will continue to allow 1:1 group supervision hours."

Summer 2023 Message from the President Jun 28, 2023 | Latest News Message from the President Welcome, all credential holders, new and renewed! On behalf of the Board, I am proud to present the Summer 2023 Newsletter. This is an exciting newsletter to share, and I hope it helps inform of the changes....

Individual, Art, and Group Therapy and Telehealth

I offer telehealth therapy by video and phone, specifically useful at this time when California and much of the US are under mandatory stay at home orders due to COVID-19. Especially now, with what some experts are calling “the second pandemic of anxiety”, many people are struggling with symptoms associated with adjusting to this new and uncertain way of life including anxiety, depression, sleep disturbance, and relational conflict. At times such as this, where social media and constant news reports can ramp up anxiety and fear, it is crucial for all of us (myself included) to tend to self care so that we can be calm and clear enough to make the best decisions for ourselves and our families.

I have two office locations, Recovery Help Now, a group private practice near West Hollywood that accepts PPO insurances with out of network benefits, and my private practice in Encino, CA. I am a Board Certified Art Therapist and Certified Group Psychotherapist specializing in Addiction and Recovery, working with Young Adults, and treating other mental health issues and concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief. I have worked with adolescents, young adults, and families in addiction treatment for many years and incorporate evidence-based approaches. In addition to Art Therapy I also incorporate mindfulness-based practices and psychodynamic theory to encourage mind-body integration, self-awareness, and motivation to make positive changes.
