YesterdayI learned that my friend Neal Miller has passed away.
Neal was one of California’s earliest acupuncturists and a passionate advocate for our profession. He devoted countless hours to legislative work that helped secure and strengthen the standing of acupuncture in this state. His advocacy, integrity, and steady voice made a lasting impact on all of us who practice today.
He was also an excellent practitioner, a generous mentor, and a close friend to me. I am deeply grateful for his guidance and his friendship.
For those who would like to pay their respects, Neal’s funeral will be held on Sunday, March 1st at 10:00 a.m. at:
Mount Sinai Memorial Park
5950 Forest Lawn Drive
Los Angeles, CA 90068
He will be greatly missed.

A comprehensive new paper in the Journal of Pain Research explores the state of 21st-century acupuncture in the U.S.—and the findings are powerful.

I am researching a chinese herbal formula for treating systemic lipomas, and one formula includes a reference to "Wind And Cold Grass" without the latin or pinyin names. Anybody heard of this one before that can help me with the latin or pinyin, please? I think it's 风寒草 Fēnghán cǎo but I don't know the botanical name for this herb.

Curtis Schnell directed one episode of "Crossing Jordan," on which he was production designer for every episode over its entire run. His episode was entitled "D.O.A" (Season 6 Episode 16) and featured the B-story about Howard the Magnificant and Stan. Tony Mouleart played Stan and Sean Moran played Howard the Magnificent.
I remember that he was the happiest he'd ever been in his career directing that episode, he made a point of asking advice from every department about how to get what he wanted, and he didn't sleep at all for two weeks. He said that Tony and Sean were delightful to work with.
