It's almost time for back to school. Essential oils can be a wonderful and helpful addition for the daily grind of school and after school activities.
Here are some of the most common oils I use on school days.
VALOR: I tend to rub this oil on the back of my kids' necks to help empower and uplift them before school.
BRAIN POWER: This oil is full of constituents called sesquiterpenes. The name speaks for itself. This is another oil that I will rub on the back of their necks, or wrists. I also put a few drops on their diffuser necklaces on days when more brain power is needed. (Diffuser necklace purchased from Amazon).
PEPPERMINT: This oil has so many uses. For school purposes, I use Peppermint for its stimulating properties, to help create a more focused environment during homework time. I like to mix Peppermint, Lavender and sometimes Lemon in the diffuser for an invigorating, refreshing, yet soothing blend.
LEMON: This oil is fantastic for removing sticky residue from glue, tape and Band-Aids from skin and surfaces. Lemon is also uplifting and can be diffused during times of occasional sadness.
LAVENDER: This is probably one of the most versatile oils. Where do I begin with Lavender? Lavender is cleansing, calming, soothing and balancing. It can be diffused to help clear and clarify the mind. It can calm occasional nervous tension. It is also fabulous before bed. Thanks to its lovely moisturizing, cleansing and soothing properties, it is also great for skin and any mishaps or irritations that may occur.
THIEVES: Another must-have for school days. I actually rub this oil on the bottoms of my kids' feet before school. (I alternate with Purification). Thieves has cleansing properties. It smells delicious. It reminds me of Autumn, with cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus, lemon and Rosemary. It can neutralize and purify the air from strong odors. I diffuse this oil frequently during the school year, when the weather starts to get too cold and lots of kids are stuck in the house.
STRESS AWAY: The must-have oil speaks for itself. School can be overwhelming for kids (and parents) these days. In addition to long days in the classroom, homework that must be done every night, and countless after school activities, there can be very little down time to relax. I use Stress Away topically (neck, wrists, hair, and in diffuser necklaces) and in the diffuser to create a calming atmosphere for the kids and for myself. LOVE this oil.
DIGIZE: I apply this oil topically after meals, if necessary. It is comforting and soothing. It is also helpful for long car rides. My son will ask for this oil quite often. He finds it immediately comforting on his belly. (This oil can feel spicy on the skin and does need to be diluted with coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, or V-6 oil).
PURIFICATION: Another must-have. Great for freshening the air and eliminating odors. I diffuse this oil after school as well, for the same reasons I diffuse Thieves. I alternate Thieves and Purification, especially during colder months. I will also rub this oil on the bottoms of their feet before school. It is wonderful for getting rid of stinky feet and shoes. You can also put a few drops on a cotton ball and stick the cotton balls in sneakers overnight. I frequently diffuse this oil in my car to cleanse and purify the air. (I bought a car diffuser from Amazon).
