Melatonin is the only known hormone synthesized by the pineal gland and is released in response to darkness.

Melatonin is sometimes prescribed to patients with sleep disturbances and has been shown to be effective in helping to treat certain sleep disorders.

Just because it’s over the counter doesn’t mean it’s safe for everyone. Always consult with your physician.
