| oh hey good people,

this healing we are doing over here is for the grown Black gworls who are surviving the downfall of Diddy, Drake, and nem.

the racing hearts & scary thoughts, sudden tearfulness, and old emotions rising up that you left behind. you aren’t making it up. the triggers are touching so many of us.

the comments sections, the blaming, the ‘lying’ accusations, the inevitable feeling of isolation.

this is for the grown Black gworls who see themselves in the stories, who choose healing, who need each other to survive these times.

in a world that chooses to not believe Black women, femmes, and non-binary folks. we believe you with our whole hearts.

the fear, the worry, the rage, the pain. the haunting of kept secrets.

we got you.

this is an invitation for all the grown Black gworls who are so worthy of (community) care, softness, sweetness. for all the grown Black gworls living in violated bodies that are craving freedom. that have the medicine that can heal our hearts.

join us, Della Mosley & shena young – sister-friends, artists, survivors, & therapists – for a monthly healing & holding space for the grown Black gworls surviving the downfall of Diddy, Drake, and nem. in preparation for the upcoming twists and turns, the trials, and the healing journey now & beyond we are stocking up on tools/resources, practicing taking up more space in our bodies, loving on each other, and steeping in hope.

| (cw: SA) many of the divine oracles, the stars, and the guardians have been warning us that predatory patterns of violation and harm would be exposed, particularly those that have violated women and children across generations. and we have been seeing this in popular news, hearing excavated stories of our dearest loved ones, and maybe even personal dreams have surfaced of things long forgotten. healing is right here. community is right here. trauma has a heart, it lives in the body, and disrupts the spirit. healing on the mat is a 10 week workshop series for BIPOC survivors wanting to explore the impact of se3ual trauma on the mind, body, heart, + spirit. survivors will learn tools that support discovering home in the body, African spirituality as a healing resource, and trauma informed yoga/embodiment practice in a small community of people that get it. in fact journey #2 in my book body rites is an abbreviated and small bite of the healing on the mat workshop series. space is limited and there's two weeks left to register, link in bio to sign up. you're invited to send me an email for more information about equity scale option as needed. |

| (take care warning: SA)

as my first book, body rites, makes its entrance into the world I’m writing to invite you to breathe in solidarity with me + all Black survivors - to disrupt the shame + secrecy that has silenced our communities for too long. during the week of my book’s release November 14 -21, you’re invited to join the body rites solidarity campaign by doing any of the following |

post the attached graphics on your feed

go LIVE or post, making a statement of solidarity, sharing statistics of s5xual assault, and mention body rites as a healing resource

post a picture of your copy of body rites with a special message

please begin any of your posts with a care warning for s5xual trauma

EVERYONE KNOWS SOMEONE THAT NEEDS THIS BOOK.

if you don’t know what to say, or are not a survivor yourself that’s ok. here are a couple of suggestions to use as is or make your own |

create a post/reel reading this body rites excerpt as a dedication to Black survivors of s5xual trauma. “You deserve to be at home in your body. to take up all the space inside of it. to feel softness at its edges and peace in your blood. to change it. to be held by it. to share pleasure with it. to rest in it. to make love with it. these are your body’s rites beloved. I am breathing in solidarity with all Black survivors of s5xual trauma.”

create a post/reel/thread with the affirmation “this is my body. my body belongs to me, and I am breathing in solidarity with all Black survivors of s5xual trauma.”

create a thread that says “Everyone knows someone that needs the book body rites. I am breathing in solidarity with all Black survivors of s5xual trauma.”

and close inviting your community to purchase the book as a healing resource by visiting my website www.embodiedtruthhealing.com

don’t forget to tag me on IG + threads and use the hashtags so we can break the innanets in Black survivor solidarity!

this summer I attended the premiere for BETs Average Joe, starring Deon Cole and Tammy Townsend. Tammy shared that she had a difficult time disconnecting from her character, Angela Washington, during filming ultimately making a decision to seek support through a therapist. after the premiere, she and I had a moment to discuss the urgent need for on-set wellbeing, emotional, and psychological support for cast + crew as an industry standard. I'm so grateful for her candidness and transparency and support for my work.

paying entertainment industry folks their worth is just the beginning. we have to take better care of everyone & each other too. recently, Ruby Parker of Netflix's Bridgerton disclosed having two psychotic breaks on the heels of filming calling out both Netflix and Shondaland for their lack of support during and after.

oftentimes, the industry is calling upon BIPOC to tell the stories, which in many cases asks them to reenact, channel, and draw from charged memories, historical/traumatizing contexts, and triggering dynamics without providing the proper support. She shared, “During filming, I was deteriorating,” “It was a really tormenting place for me to be because my character was very alienated, very ostracized, on her own under these horrible circumstances.”

remembering that these are human beings living in bodies that have usually experienced trauma and are surviving oppressive contexts, is urgent. that when they show up to work, to bring characters to life, all of there lived-experiences come with them.

offering on-set wellbeing support, aftercare, + referrals for cast & crew should be an industry standard.

Ruby Parker says she suffered two psychotic breaks and neither Netflix nor Shondaland ever supported her.

| being an author & an artist are one in the same for me. I'm immensely grateful that my team .w.norton understood that. that freedom meant that I was able to bring on one of my favorite people dr shyma el sayed , a fellow colleague, sisterfriend, and WOC illustrator to create the art series for my first book body rites. when we were in graduate school years ago in Chicago, I often spent weekends tagging along while she painted murals and in pop up art installations. I'm truly her biggest fan. we channeled all the love, sweetness, and creativity between us and beyond us to conjure up captivating visuals throughout the workbook. we had beautiful and gracious community muses that helped bring the vision we had forward.

I can't wait for you to see it! order your copy on pre-sale by request at your favorite Black owned bookstores, Amazon, & Barnes & Noble. |
