Not having a plan is the first step towards stumbling away from your goals.
And if your goals are to build strength, lose weight, and create a dedicated yoga practice, then it starts with scheduling.
My number 1 tip to making sure you get to your mat every day IS to write it down in. your agenda/calendar/a sticky note on your computer screen. Whatever is going to work for you.
How I do it? Every weekend, I go onto my favorite teacher's website and go through their weekly curated schedule. Now, sometimes the class lengths don't work for my schedule, or the style of class isn't what I'm looking for. So I take the ones I want, and write them out in my planner.
Then, if I have days left over, I look up classes based on length, or body part worked, and add those in. Until I have a full 7 days of classes scheduled.
But what if life gets in the way and you can't actually fit in the 45 minute class you planned for Monday? That's fine! Either choose one of the other classes you scheduled for the week and just switch days around, or go to your favorite teacher's class catalog and take no more that 5 minutes to pick a class of the length you want. Any longer than that and you're just wasting time and probably wont end up on your mat.
This is what works for me, and has worked pretty well for the last 9 years. It may not be fancy or high tech, but why fix something that ain't broke?
Don't know where to start looking for classes? I make a fully filled in yoga calendar every month that you can access for free at the link in my bio. It definitely makes planning a whole lot easier.
Have you used the calendar before? Or something similar? Let me know how it's worked for you below!
