Join us for the 45th Annual Swim with Mike on April 11, 2026 at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center at USC UPC!

What started in 1981 to support injured USC swimmer Mike Nyeholt has grown into a nationally recognized scholarship program for student-athletes who have experienced catastrophic injuries or illnesses. Today, it’s one of USC’s most spirited traditions, bringing the Trojan community together for a day of fundraising, connection, and celebration.

Enjoy the high-energy pool deck atmosphere with students, faculty, alumni, and scholarship recipients. Be sure to stop by the USC DPT booth (new this year!).

Swim, volunteer, or come cheer in support of an incredible cause. We can’t wait to see you there. Fight On✌️

Clinical Instructor Insights 🥼

What has been one of the most rewarding experiences you’ve had as a clinical instructor?

“One of the most rewarding experiences has been watching a student move from ‘doing techniques’ to truly thinking like a clinician—integrating the patient’s story, objective findings, and evidence to make confident decisions. When a student earns a patient’s trust through clear communication and then sees that patient improve because of a thoughtful plan of care, it reinforces why clinical education matters.”

Flagship PT in Culver City, CA

WOUND CARE LEGACY

Wound care physical therapy is not for everyone. But for Vanessa Galvan DPT ‘27 (pictured here with her father, David Galvan), studying the specialty is personal, practical and, in many ways, a full-circle moment. After all, as a teenager, Galvan watched the successful wound care her father received after developing an infected foot ulcer as a result of his type 2 diabetes.
