DR. POWERS EARNS 2026 MCMILLAN VISIONARY AWARD

Professor Dr. Christopher Powers ‘84, DPT ‘96 has earned a McMillan Visionary Leader Award — the highest honor bestowed by the APTA — for his role in developing new understandings and treatments for knee pain. As part of the award, Powers will deliver remarks at the APTA Combined Sections Meeting in mid-February 2026.

CELEBRATING DR. JIM GORDON’S 25 YEARS OF LEADERSHIP

After 25 years at the helm, Dr. Gordon stepped down earlier this year from the leadership position, leaving the Division transformed into a model for research, education and clinical practice. But whatever you do, don’t call his career transition a retirement! “I’ve stepped down as chair, but I’m still very much part of this community,” says Gordon, who is taking a fall sabbatical before returning to the classroom in January.

October is Physical Therapy Month! The USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy has partnered with WalkUSC to host “Walk with USC Physical Therapists” on  Tuesday, October 14 at 12 pm (Meet at Pappas Quad – HSC) and Monday, October 27 at 12:30 pm (Meet at Tommy Trojan – University Park Campus). Join us for a 20-30 minute walk, connect with other colleagues, and meet our USC physical therapists who can answer questions about injury prevention exercises, rehabilitation and treatments, and inform you on proper body mechanics.
