Tape like a pro 👏 Dear DIYers: let’s have a heart-to-heart about tape. Yes, painter’s tape—that humble little roll that somehow ends up in your hair, on your dog, and stuck to your sock by the end of the day. It’s a true hero of home projects. It saves your trim from being smothered in paint, keeps your light switches safe, and gives you those satisfying crisp lines that make you feel like a decorating genius.

BUT—and this is where some tough love comes in—it’s not a miracle worker. Tape is here to assist, not to replace. You still need that trusty angled brush and a steady hand to cut in around edges, corners, and all those spots where tape just can’t carry the team. It’s a partnership, not a substitution plan.

So by all means, love your tape. Use it generously. Give it the spotlight it deserves. Just don’t throw your brush in the drawer thinking you’ve hacked the system. You haven’t. The brush is still your ride-or-die for pro-looking results.

Bottom line: tape + brush = DIY dream team. One without the other? Chaos, regret, and probably a second coat.

Kitchen Island - Part 5

Installing the new (ad) sink into my bespoke kitchen island build.

It’s been a long time since this kitchen project started, and I never thought I would one day be building a bespoke kitchen island.

But here I am. Doing it right now.

This part of the build was of the most technical and time consuming parts. Most of the challenges were left out of this vides as they related to positioning of the carcass for the water and waste, making connections, and aligning with other cabinets and flooring as it will all have an impact on the final outcome.

The sink is super high quality and I knew the under mount design would be perfect for style of worktop we eventually want.
