Ever feel like your sadness isn't just a feeling, but a physical wave that completely takes over? 🌊😭

This is emotional dysregulation, a brain state:

🚨 Gas Pedal Floored: Your amygdala (emotion center) is hyper-active, constantly signaling distress.

🛑 Brakes Offline: Your prefrontal cortex (regulation center) is overloaded by grief and can't act as a brake.

💧 The Release: Crying is a physical release. It literally purges stress hormones in your tears and triggers calming endorphins.

You are not 'too emotional.' Your brain's regulatory system is temporarily impaired. Let the wave come; it's your body's way of finding balance. ❤️‍🩹

If you feel your emotions are out of control since your loss, our free Grief Impact Quotient (GIQ) quiz can help you understand the intensity of your emotional response.

Feel like every little ache and pain is magnified? Does your body just... hurt more than it used to? 🤕

This is a grieving nervous system on high alert:

🧠 Central Sensitization: Chronic stress makes your brain and spinal cord extra sensitive, turning up the 'volume' on pain signals.

📉 Natural Painkillers Down: Grief can deplete your body's natural painkillers (like endorphins), leaving you with fewer defenses.

🔥 Inflammation: The low-grade inflammation caused by grief can also make your body more tender and sore.

Your pain is real, and it is amplified by your grief. You are not weak; your system is sensitized. ❤️‍🩹

If you're experiencing more physical pain since your loss and wonder if it's connected, our free Grief Impact Quotient (GIQ) test can offer clarity. See how your physical symptoms score and start to understand your body's story.

This is a real limit of a grieving brain:

🧠 Working Memory Full: Think of your working memory like your computer's RAM. Grief is a massive program that's always running, using up almost all of it.

🔀 No Task-Switching: Your prefrontal cortex, which helps you switch between tasks, is offline. Your brain loses its agility.

➡️ Single-Tasking Mode: To survive, your brain forces you into a 'single-tasking' mode. It's a protective measure against burnout.

You are not becoming less capable. You are being shown your brain's current, very real limits. Honouring this is a radical act of self-care. ❤️‍🩹

Grief doesn't take a vacation. A new, beautiful place can amplify the feeling of loss because the instinct to share it is so strong. That physical ache is a stress response: your body's automatic "share" impulse crashing into the reality of their absence.

Not sure if grief is impacting your body? Take the GIQ test. Link in bio.

Ever feel flooded with emotion but have no words to describe it? Or feel physical sensations but can't explain why? 🧠↔️🗣️

This can be a brain-hemisphere disconnect:

➡️ Right Brain: Experiences your grief as raw emotion, imagery, and physical sensation.

⬅️ Left Brain: Tries to use language, logic, and story to make sense of these experiences.

🌉 The Bridge (Corpus Callosum): Trauma can weaken the connection between the two, so the feelings can't be easily translated into a coherent story.

You are not failing to communicate. Your brain is struggling with a literal internal connection issue. It's a physiological event. ❤️‍🩹

Note: Practices that don't require words—like movement, art, or simply breathing—can help soothe the right brain directly.

Grief is not Static; it's an active process of regulation. A "good day" is a sign that your nervous system is finding moments of balance. ❤️‍🩹

These periods of physiological calm are not a sign of forgetting; they are essential for your body's long-term work of integrating the loss.

Feeling extra anxious and disconnected since your loss... It could be a hormonal withdrawal. 🧠💔

This is an oxytocin deficit at play:

💞 The 'Safety' Hormone: Oxytocin calms your nervous system and makes you feel safe and connected. It's our natural anti-anxiety chemical.

📉 The Source is Gone: Hugs, deep conversations, and simple closeness with your person were reliable oxytocin triggers. Now, that source is gone.

🎢 Cortisol Takes Over: Without oxytocin to buffer it, the stress hormone cortisol can have a much stronger effect on your system.

Your intense feeling of loneliness isn't just in your head; it's in your hormones. Your body is physically missing its sense of safety. ❤️‍🩹

Note: Finding small ways to boost oxytocin, like hugging a trusted friend or a pet, can be a supportive practice.

We believe you have the right to understand what is happening inside your body as you grieve.

Mood swings after loss aren’t random.
Grief scrambles your emotional signals❤️‍🩹 numb one minute, overwhelmed the next.
That feeling of instability isn’t weakness.
It’s your nervous system trying to process something too big, too fast.
You’re not falling apart ... your body is reacting to heartbreak.

Feeling constantly 'on edge' from grief? Heard of adaptogens but not sure what they do? 🌱

How adaptogens can support a grieving body:

🧠 The HPA Axis: Grief dysregulates your HPA axis (your central stress response system), the root of chronic high cortisol.

⚖️ The Balancer: Adaptogens, like Ashwagandha, work on this axis to help your body find balance—calming the system when it's overactive, supporting it when it's depleted.

🧘 The Result: This can lead to feeling less 'wired', having more stable energy, and an improved resilience to daily stressors.

Supporting your body's stress response is a powerful way to care for yourself while you navigate the emotional work of grief. ❤️‍🩹

Note: Always consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement.
