In L.A. County, over 40% of residents depend on Medi Cal—and many turn to Planned Parenthood Los Angeles for essential care. Medicaid makes it possible for millions of Angelenos to access cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, birth control, and more.

At PPLA, we see the importance of protecting access to Medicaid every day. It’s a lifeline for many families, young people, older adults, and people with disabilities across Los Angeles.

What's the difference between PrEP, PEP, and Doxy PEP? PrEP or pre-exposure prophylaxis is a medicine that can help prevent HIV. Using PrEP can lower your chances of getting HIV from s*x by up to 99%. PEP is a series of pills you can start taking within 72 hours after you’ve been exposed to HIV. Doxy PEP is a single-dose antibiotic taken after s*x to reduce the risk of certain bacterial STIs.

Each of these options work in different ways, but they all have the same goal: helping people stay healthy and giving them more control over their s*xual health. Speak to a Planned Parenthood LA health care provider to learn more about these options. Visit pp-la.org
