In collaboration with Count the Kicks, we’ve outlined five key things support professionals should know about kick counting and how to guide expectant parents in tracking movement patterns.

Nearly 10 years after joining the Welcome Baby program at Maternal and Child Health Access, Alma reunited with her former Parent Coach, Denise, at this year’s Family Strengthening Network Summit. First featured at our 2016 Summit, Alma returned to share where life has taken her.

At last week’s Summit, we honored the life and legacy of beloved trainer and mentor Ruth Beaglehole with a heartfelt letter and tribute video.

For over a decade, Ruth was a cornerstone of our network’s staff training. Her teachings on Parent-Child Empathetic Communication and early brain development have reached hundreds of home visitors, nurses, and managers—and through them, countless families across L.A. County.

The Family Strengthening Network’s annual Summit, held virtually on June 11, 2025, marked a meaningful milestone: 10 years since the first Summit in 2015. This year’s theme, “Stronger Together: Building Resilience & Staying Inspired in Family Support Work,” resonates deeply in the face of today’s challenges in L.A. County.
