It's Latina/x Breastfeeding Week / Semana de La Lactancia Latina!

In this video, Sandra, a participant in the Lundquist – South Los Angeles Health Projects (SLAHP) Healthy Families America home visiting program, shares how she received support to breastfeed after leaving the hospital.

With encouragement from her Family Support Specialist, she gained confidence and even learned how to use her nursing pillow correctly.

Cheers to the newest cohort of home visiting professionals!

We kicked off the Family Strengthening Network’s 28th cohort training with presentations from LABBN’s Data, Communications, Admin, Policy & Consortium, Training & Technical Assistance, and Work2Live Well teams.

Participants also received an overview of the Welcome Baby, Healthy Families America (HFA), and Parents as Teachers National Center (PAT) home visiting models.

This training supports staff across L.A. County as they continue strengthening families from day one!

"Breastfeeding is so empowering. I’m grateful I can do it this time.”

A post-pregnancy infection made it difficult for LaQuita to breastfeed her first child, but she was determined to try again with her second. Thanks to the support of the Welcome Baby program at MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital, she did.

This , we're recognizing the strength it takes to try again, and the support that makes it possible.

After recovering from a C-section and latching struggles, Paola found support through her Welcome Baby Parent Coach and Registered Nurse.

During Breastfeeding Awareness Month, we’re highlighting how Welcome Baby supports moms with the tools, care, and confidence they need to succeed from pregnancy to postpartum.

During Breastfeeding Awareness Month, we’re highlighting support that empowers families to overcome breastfeeding challenges.

When Nexus found out her baby was allergic to milk and soy, her Family Support Specialist at the South LA Health Projects (SLAHP) home visiting program with Healthy Families America helped her identify safe foods to eat and encouraged her to continue breastfeeding.
