WHO WE ARE

At One Neuro, we treat children from 18 months of age to young adults in college and graduate school. We are a multi-faceted center and our team is comprised of neuropsychologists, physicians, psychologists, neuropsychology fellows, and doctoral psychology graduate students, who work together to evaluate areas of concern, provide diagnostic clarification, and determine the best treatment recommendations so our patients can return to their lives more equipped and confident than before. COMPREHENSIVE INTERVIEW

Because of the complex and thorough nature of our evaluations, we like to initially meet with adult clients or a client’s parent(s) or legal guardians to review the developmental history and provide a focus for the assessment. During this meeting, we seek to identify presenting concerns and determine which evaluation will best meet your needs. QUANTITATIVE & QUALITATIVE TESTING

Our assessment batteries are comprised of selected measures that are determined based on your presenting concerns and our ongoing impressions. Our evaluations are flexible and the clinician may add certain measures to the battery as they determine your unique strengths and weaknesses. Our assessment batteries vary in length and typically involve 1-3 testing sessions that may last 2 to 4 hours each. FEEDBACK & WRITTEN REPORT

After the evaluation is complete, we will meet with you to review the results of the assessment in detail. We will also discuss treatment recommendations with you and provide appropriate referrals as needed. You are welcome to invite other treatment providers or family members to the feedback session. After this meeting, a full report is written, detailing the reason for the testing, the child’s history, the tests used, their results, the diagnostic impression (if appropriate) and finally, the recommendations for interventions.

It is such a privilege to have this opportunity to be Guest Editor of the Huffington Post today, and to celebrate the amazing work being done to improve and understand the mental health of young children. Young Minds Matter, being launched today, is a new series where issues and work around the mental health of young children will be explored. Like most parents today, William and I would not hesitate to seek help for our children if they needed it. We hope to encourage George and Charlotte to speak about their feelings, and to give them the tools and sensitivity to be supportive peers to their friends as they get older. We know there is no shame in a young child struggling with their emotions or suffering from a mental illness.

Sadly, too often, the stigma around mental health prevents people who need help from seeking it. But that simply doesn't make any sense. Whether an illness affects your heart, your arm or your brain, it's still an illness, and there shouldn't be any distinction.

"I had the privilege of speaking about "Fitting In" at Beverly Hills High School last month on behalf of the Bianca Foundation. I think this small segment really demonstrates the difficulties teens face in high school. The take away message, DON'T TRY TO FIT IN. Surround yourself with those that make you feel like you belong and share similar values. The more we focus on our own personal growth and self-awareness, the better equipped we will be in finding those meaningful friendships."

I wish I could go back in time and teach the younger version of myself how to cope, but of course, that's not possible. What is possible is to try to reach as many kids and parents as possible with these coping skills....
