Dr. Malik is a board certified, integrative psychiatrist and psychotherapist in private practice in Santa Monica, CA. He completed his psychiatry residency at the Menninger Clinic and Baylor College Of Medicine in Houston, TX. He has completed a two year fellowship in psychoanalytic psychotherapy from the Center For Psychoanalytic Studies. He is currently a Clinical Associate at the New Center For Psychoanalysis and volunteer faculty at UCLA where he supervises psychiatry residents. Dr. Malik practices an ecologically informed, integrative, adult psychiatry, addiction medicine and psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. He moves freely between body, mind, spirit, psychosocial, biological, emotional, cognitive, physical, and environmental realms that are all at play in dealing with psychiatric issues and create the great complexity we see in our patients. He is intuitive in his style, scientific in framework, humanistic in his approach, developmental in concept and collaborative in his practice. Dr. Malik specializes in addressing the complex medical, psychiatric and substance use difficulties of high achieving individuals no longer functioning successfully in the workplace and/or at home. He has a specific interest in mood and co-occurring personality disorders which he treats using a comprehensive and integrated, multidisciplinary treatment approach. This comprises psychoanalytically informed outpatient psychiatry, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Psychodynamic Individual, Couples and Family Therapy.
