Sadly, but not surprisingly, one of the main reasons women avoid intimacy (especially in the bedroom) is because they hate their bodies.

I know my own story is not that different than that of millions of other women.

I grew up in Los Angeles, where the media led us to believe that having the perfect body was everything.

In high school I was always on a diet, determined to cram my muscular thighs into impossibly skinny jeans, forever comparing myself to girls skinnier than I would ever be.

Why do we do this to ourselves as women. Even when we are promoting self love and women supporting women, we say the most horrendous things to ourselves when we compare ourselves to other women.

These thoughts hold us back in ways that we can't even fully recognize in the moment. When I have thoughts like these, I ask myself if I would ever say what I'm saying to myself to a good friend.

Usually the answer is no. When I realize I'm speaking to myself in a way I would never speak to a friend, I take a moment to stop and practice a moment of self compassion.

Loving yourself takes work, and it's not always easy to break lifelong patterns, but with a little awareness, we can learn to hold ourselves up the way that we hold up others.

We're all in this together, so let's stop comparing ourselves, shall we? It only leads to suffering. And that suffering holds us back from truly enjoying ourselves in the bedroom.

Self compassion and self love can lead to stronger and deeper intimacy. If that's not an worthwhile payoff, I don't know what is.

Have you ever spoken live about things you are passionate about? It truly makes me come alive.

I've been incredibly blessed to have opportunities to share my expertise with women about fertility, health, and intimacy.

These topics are true and dear to my heart, and it is such an honor to be able to educate women how to best get in tune with their bodies, no matter their age or stage of life.

We are a week away from Valentine's Day, and you may be wondering what you can do for your beloved to let them know you care.

But what if you didn't have to wait for a special day?

And this doesn't always have to be to a beloved either.

Maybe we have dear friends and family with whom we love..

Love takes on many forms.

Love starts with a deep gratitude within and extends out to the world.
