These days…and evenings with my childhood besties are everything. We grew up together in the suburbs of Chicago and somehow all landed in LA — truly the biggest gift. We try to meet up each month, and it turns out it’s not just good for the soul… it’s good for our health too.
Studies show that strong friendships — especially among women — boost oxytocin and serotonin, lower stress, improve heart health, and even increase longevity. People with close social ties have up to a 50% lower risk of early mortality, and women who regularly spend time with their girlfriends report significantly better mental and emotional well-being.
So here’s to showing up for each other, month after month… it’s healing us in more ways than we know. 🩷A special shout out to A Votre Sante for always hosting us. They serve the best farm to table meals.

In September, Seva With Love had the honor of hosting Kara Jobe, a talented Hollywood actress with over 18 years of improv experience and a BFA in Acting. Kara has directed children’s theater with a heartfelt focus on helping every child feel seen and valued. She’s also appeared in national commercials and an HBO series.
Our teens absolutely loved this class, and we’re so grateful for Kara’s time, energy, and support! 💛 A special thanks to Deb and Warren Blum for allowing us to use their space at 7811 Gallery for this event.

A weekend full of unexpected lessons and beautiful moments. 💫
My dear bestie, Carol, recently got me hooked on the writings of Oliver Burkeman—and I’m so glad she did. His newest book, “Meditations for Mortals: 4 Weeks to Embrace Your Limitations and Make Time for What Counts,” just launched, and I had the chance to hear him speak live. His talk was extraordinary—honestly, exactly what I needed to hear.
The core of his message? That life opens up when we stop trying to “get it all together.” That we’re most productive and present when we choose a few meaningful things rather than chase an endless to-do list. That the unpredictability of life isn’t something to fear—but something that can actually make life richer and more magical.
He introduces the concept of imperfectionism—a refreshing way to move through the world where our limitations aren’t barriers, but invitations to live more fully, with less stress and more grace.
This hit home for me in a very real way. I was supposed to attend my best friend’s wedding in Chicago—something I had planned a whole weekend around for nearly a year. But life had other plans, and I wasn’t able to go. At first, I was heartbroken. But embracing the unpredictability (as Oliver talks about), I made the choice to be fully present where I was.
And wow—what a weekend it turned out to be. A beautiful dinner, great conversations, time to catch up with people I love, and yes... even a showing of K-POP Demon Hunters. 🎬💃
Thank you, Oliver, for your insight. Thank you, Carol, for always guiding me toward what I need (even when I don’t know it yet). And thank you, Wendy, for your love and understanding.
Here’s to embracing the imperfect path. 🌿

In August, Seva with Love had the honor of welcoming a very special guest — Christi Mendoza!

Christi introduced us to the transformative practice of Tao Calligraphy through healing and movement. Together, we activated and traced the powerful energies of peace, love, and harmony, using creative expression to deeply connect with these words and bring them to life within ourselves.
Both teens and parents truly enjoyed the experience, and we’re already looking forward to having Christi back in a few months!
A heartfelt thank you to Christi for sharing her magical gift with us. Your presence was truly inspiring.

Healers helping healers — tonight was a beautiful exchange of energy and support. I gave Koko an acupuncture and chakra balancing treatment, and she gifted me a spinal flow session and a Theraphi treatment.

The Theraphi is an incredible plasma light and bio-active field technology that sends powerful, highly charged waveforms through the body—recharging cells, restoring balance, and activating deep healing.

Grateful to collaborate and co-heal with amazing practitioners like Koko (). We share space, intention, and a vision of wellness for all who walk through our clinic doors.

This past year has been full of ups and downs, twists and turns—life doing what it does best. But through it all, here we are, so incredibly grateful to be celebrating my dad’s 86th birthday today. Moments like these are what matter most—the memories we make together as a family.
Happy birthday, Dad. Love you always.

Happy Lunar New Year! 2025 is the Chinese Lunar Year of the Snake — more specifically, the wood snake. Wood typically symbolizes a sense of growth.

The Year of the Snake is a time for shedding old patterns and embracing new ideas. It is a time for thoughtful action and strategic change. As in any new year, this is a time for new beginnings and endless opportunities.

According to a literature review in Frontiers Psychology, adult friendships, especially high-quality ones that provide social support and companionship, significantly predict well-being and can protect against mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. These benefits persist across the life span.

In the Journal of Experimental Society, one study found that people even judged a hill to be less steep when they were accompanied by a friend.

Scientists studying friendship have found similar brain activity among friends. The regions responsible for a range of functions, including motivation, reward, identity, and sensory processing showed these similar brain processes.

So it’s not surprising that I met these besties in our Master’s program. Going through this rigorous program sometimes felt like climbing a steep hill. Having them travel through this amazing and yet sometimes difficult journey of life with me has been a blessing. I am so grateful for them. We had an incredible girls weekend together enjoying a Friendsgiving, catching up, sharing and simply being in sisterhood.

Have you connected with your besties recently? If not, it’s time to make a plan.

Remember, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” Maya Angelou.

I believe that if we end up having one great friend, we are lucky. I feel so blessed to have these Queens in my life - my childhood friends/sisters from Chicago and also my niece by sisterhood. It’s so important to make time for your tribe, your sisters, your family. At the end of the day, the most important thing in life are the moments and memories we have created. Who is a part of your community? Pick up the phone, text or call, make a plan to create memories. You will be so glad that you did. ❤️ and thanks .dutta for the beautiful bracelets.
