Dear Colleagues,
As Co-Directors of the Admissions Committee at the Psychoanalytic Center of California (PCC), we welcome potential candidates to our Institute and to our Annual Open House on March 23, 2025. Our training programs offer you the opportunity to pursue a deeper knowledge of psychoanalytic theory and practice. We are interested in attracting qualified, licensed mental health professionals to our advanced training programs.
The PCC Core program, which provides complete training to become a Certified Psychoanalyst, commensurate with the standards of the International Psychoanalytical Association.
This program offers a focused, in-depth academic and supervisory curriculum based on British Object Relations Theory. We are proud to have been introduced to this psychoanalytic perspective by the honored senior mentors and founders of PCC, Albert Mason, James Grotstein, James Gooch, Yvonne Hansen and Richard Alexander. Beginning with the work of Freud as a foundation we explore the theory and clinical applications of psychoanalysis through the ideas of prominent
thinkers such as Klein, Bion, Tustin, Winnicott and others. We also offer the Tavistock Model of Infant Observation as an essential opportunity to understand the development of the mind and the early roots of primitive mental states, and their ensuing manifestations in adult patients. Upon completion of the Core Program, you will receive a Certificate as a Psychoanalyst and
membership in the International Psychoanalytical Association.
In addition to the Core Program, we offer The Infant, Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Program (ICAPP), and a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program (PPP) for either one or two years. At the Open House on March 23rd, you will have the opportunity to learn about our diverse and unique possibilities for advanced training. There will be presentations by two senior
psychoanalysts, as well as our Dean, and several faculty members. PCC members, faculty and current candidates will be available to answer your questions an discuss their experiences at PCC.
If you have any questions, you may contact either one of us directly, or the Administrator at the PCC office. We will be glad to speak with you in person to discuss your interest in psychoanalysis and your professional goals. PCC also offers financial assistance for tuition.
Sincerely,
David Goldstein, PhD, PsyD
