Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center

Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center Welcome to the Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center

At the Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center (LA CRC), we support family caregivers in LA County who help an adult relative or friend (over the age of 18) affected by chronic and debilitating health conditions including dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, cerebrovascular diseases (such as stroke or aneurysms), degenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and multiple sclerosis, and traumatic

brain injury (TBI), among many others. Caregivers help with one or more of the following tasks: physical care (getting in and out of bed), making health care decisions, cooking, cleaning, yard work, managing medications and going to doctor visits, making important decisions, shopping for groceries and other items, legal issues, help with bill-paying, bathing and dressing, or providing transportation. LA CRC is a program of the USC Family Caregiver Support Center (USC FCSC), which is the community service arm of the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology.

Care feels a little lighter when it’s shared across generations. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 For many in the Sandwich Generation, caregiving means showing up for aging loved ones, children, and work all at once—and that can feel like a lot to hold alone. Leaning on family, friends, and community support can bring more balance and make the journey feel less heavy.

Respite care is often misunderstood—but it’s actually a normal and important part of caregiving. 🌿 It doesn’t mean stepping away completely or waiting for a crisis. Instead, it’s short-term support that helps caregivers rest, recharge, and stay sustainable over time.

We are proud to share that one of our caregivers, Deidra, was recognized on March 20, 2026, as the Center For Caregiver Advancement’s Family Caregiver of the Year.

This award recognizes an unpaid family caregiver who provides exceptional in-home support to a loved one. Deidra’s commitment to her mother reflects both her dedication and her ability to navigate the complexities of caregiving with thoughtfulness and care.

Through her participation in the USC Family Caregiver Support Center—including the Adult Children Caregiver Support Group, Stress-Busting Series, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Skill-Building Program—and with support from her Family Consultant, Angie, Deidra continues to strengthen her caregiving approach while supporting her family.

In her acceptance speech, she shared a message that resonates across the field of family caregiving: “If you are a caregiver, please know that what you do matters. Your dedication makes a difference, and you are not alone in this journey.”

We congratulate Deidra on this well-deserved recognition and are honored to be part of her caregiving journey.
