We were taught DNA didn't change throughout our lifetime. Today, we know that’s not the case: genetic changes happen regularly.

At the Ellison Medical Institute, our research team has shown it’s possible to track DNA changes over time and potentially link them to cancer risk. In a new study published in Nature's Scientific Reports, we used serial blood samples from patients to show how genetic mutations accumulate as we age, opening the door to better cancer risk assessment and personalized prevention strategies.
