Inspiring the next generation of scientists, researchers, clinicians, and thought leaders 🚀

We were proud to lead STEM Career Day in partnership with Los Angeles Unified School District and CTE-Linked Learning L.A. at California State University, Northridge, bringing together nearly 100 high school students for a day of exploration and connection.

Our staff took the stage as panelists, where they shared insight from their own career paths and offered real-world perspectives on medical research, engineering, and AI. The future of STEM is bright, and it’s already in motion!

Cancer touches everyone: patients, families, caregivers, and communities. On World Cancer Day, we take a moment to recognize the strength of those fighting this horrible disease, as well as the dedication of the researchers, clinicians, and care teams working alongside them every day.

At the Institute, we’re proud to contribute to accelerating advances in cancer research through cutting-edge tools and compassionate, individualized care. Whether it’s developing new therapies, advancing early detection, or improving clinical outcomes, every effort is driven by a simple question: how can we make life better for patients, now and in the future?

Though there is still a long way to go, every small step matters and brings us closer to a world filled with hope for those facing cancer.

Welcoming Trey Ideker, PhD, as a Visiting Member at the Institute 🎉

A longtime UC San Diego faculty member and leading expert in computational biology, Dr. Ideker will work with our teams to use multiomics data to better understand different disease types and help identify which patients are most likely to benefit from emerging therapies.

We’re excited to see how this collaboration will strengthen our drug discovery and development programs and bring us closer to our mission: delivering more effective, personalized treatments and improving outcomes for our patients 🔬

At EMI, we empower the next generation of scientists to turn bold ideas into real-world impact. Through our partnership with Harvey Mudd College, students are gaining hands-on opportunities to innovate at the intersection of health, research, and technology. This summer, we were excited to welcome Harvey Mudd President Harriet Nembhard to explore how these student-led projects are shaping the future of science and medicine. 🚀
