Day 4 of our Japan trip started with an in-depth look at Japan’s healthcare system, led by Professor Reiji Murayama. We gained insight into the nation’s strengths and challenges in healthcare, comparing its structure and high-cost treatment approval process to that of the U.S.

Our afternoon took us to the University of Tokyo Hospital, where we learned about its initiatives in medical care, research, and education, as well as specialized programs in cancer palliative care, nursing, and hospital information systems. We also explored their Museum of Health and Medicine, diving into the history of medical care in Japan.

To end the day, groups explored the charming Bunkyo City and nearby neighborhoods, with some visiting the scenic Ueno Park to soak in its beauty. 🌸✨

On Day 3 of our trip, we started the day with a delicious breakfast at Hotel Monterey Hanzomon before heading to Josai International University for a series of enriching lectures.

We explored the structure of the U.S. healthcare system, examined healthcare cost trends dating back to the 1940s, and took a deep dive into global healthcare spending.

We also had the opportunity to compare healthcare models from countries like Australia and Germany—broadening our understanding of international health systems.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn from global healthcare leaders and expand our perspectives! 🌍
