🌿A lil Lesson & Stretch Routine.....
Let me tell you about this guy-The IllioPsoas (sō-az) minor and major muscles. Psoas Major is the strongest hip flexor in the body. One of the special muscles in the body that run from posterior to anterior (back to front). The Psoas provides us with pelvic stability ... the simply things like walking, sitting up in bed, leaning from side to side to grab something.
The Psoas originates on the lumbar vertebrae which is just one of the many reasons I always start and focus so much energy on the spine.
A Shortening of this muscle leads to an anterior pelvic tilt and lumbar hyperlordosis- or a sway back in other words. In trauma or over years of gradual shortening, can exhibit in a true loss of range of motion in your hips/pelvis when trying to open or rotate your legs or just move in simple ways. This muscle is not super easy to access but stretching and massage therapy can get us there!
