As far as we know, the rose never questions for an instant that
it is a rose. White rose, pink rose, red rose—what does it care? It
doesn’t say, “Gee, I wish I were a yellow rose. They have all the
fun.” Without self-conscious awareness, the rose is free to
unabashedly be its most “whatever color” rose-self. People, on
the other hand, are typically riddled with self-conscious doubt and fear.
We feel: short, stupid, fat, greedy, ugly, poor . . . ad nauseam.
These judgments are the products of comparison to some outside
standard—each one the remnant of our prejudicial thinking. Let's stop comparing. Let's start blooming - G. Rose
