This quote comes from my book with Dr. Dan Siegel, THE POWER OF SHOWING UP, which will be available in paperback on January 5, 2021!

In the book, Dan and I explain how to be really present for our kids. Even if we don’t have a committed co-parent or know exactly what we’re doing every moment, the research demonstrates that when children have secure attachment with a caregiver—which is developed through the QUALITY of a parent’s presence—they build social and emotional intelligence, leadership skills, meaningful relationships, happiness, and stress resilience. Moreover, we know what kids need most, especially when life is hard, is YOU. Flawed, imperfect, present YOU.

I have an idea, and I need to find out whether y'all would be interested. It would be a virtual parenting group where we meet twice a month for an hour. I'd invite you into my Zoom room, and you'd submit questions based on what's going on with your kids. Then I'd respond, talking about both scientific research and practical application, making my answers as clear and helpful as possible.⠀

There are two main reasons I'm thinking about this. #1: I get dozens of emails each week, with people asking me questions about their kids. I'd love to respond to all of them, but I just can't. Often, I get the same questions over and over. And #2: When I give a parenting talk, without fail I run out of time before I can answer everyone's questions at the end of the presentation. So this would be a way to reach more of you.⠀

We could try it just for a few months and see how it goes. Maybe January through May, or something like that. Not sure what the charge would be, but I wanted to gauge interest. Comment below if you think you might want to join in and be part of the first group. And maybe tag a friend you think might be interested?⠀

Thanks, y'all, for the feedback.⠀
