Highly recommend being best friends with your kids.

This week I had he privilege of taking each of my big kids on a special date. Ivy wanted dinner and shopping (my kinda girl) and Ez wanted uninterrupted one v one basketball and smoothies.

I love being intentional about filling their little love buckets and just genuinely have so much fun spending time w them.

Nature is our happy place. We love finding little slices of nature in the city. Who would have guessed this little oasis...

We love finding little slices of nature in the city. Who would have guessed this little oasis is tucked in Beverly Hills?!

Go during off hours for maximum peace (it can get busy on weekends)

The “hike” is really just a short mile walk around. Stop off and see turtles, ducks, and coy fish! Our favorite activity is to count the amount of turtles we see, this time was 14. We took a pic of our favorite one (it was so tiny 🥲)

Bring snacks and stop at one of the many picnic tables or let the kids climb some trees.

These are hard times we’re all living through.

My fam has been in quarantine for the better half of a month due to Covid (long story dm me and I’ll tell you more)

It’s been a whirlwind but I’m reminded that my hope is not rooted in circumstances, bank accounts, jobs, or health.

That’s not to say we don’t have hard days and feel sorry for ourselves for the things we are missing out on (cough, cough ME yesterday) but I’m constantly reminding myself that my hope is in Christ alone. So I lean into what He has for me even in crappy circumstances.

In this case, I’ll take advantage of ALLLLLL the time we get to spend together. I know things are changing fast and very soon I won’t be a stay at home mom so I’ll relish in these sweet days instead of wishing them away. I’ll call myself back to joy.

Maybe you stopped hoping in 2020. Maybe it became easier to just NOT. But I wanna challenge you to pick it back up again and don’t let go.

Don’t lose hope friends.

Today was a hard day.

For the mom kicking herself for having a bad day, just know you are forgiven. By God, by your family… we just gotta learn to forgive ourselves.
The more I accept grace for myself the easier I will give grace to others.
Perfection is elusive.
Celebrate progress and keep growing. Include your kids in the process! Watching you learn and grow is one of the greatest gifts you can offer.

Chasing affirmation from ppl is like a cheap high.

It feels so good in the moment but it’s never enough and you are left empty and wanting more. Never full. Never sustained.

Abiding in Gods love comes w a beauty and assurance that’s unexplainable. Something I’ve brushed off for so long, never as obvious or easy as being affirmed by others; but just like the beauty that comes from a long relationship…choosing them everyday, choosing to stay. It’s hard but what comes is a joy that can’t be shaken and the security we are all searching for.

Purpose that can’t be taken away.

Identity not based on what you do but simply who you are.

NO BAKE PUMPKIN PIE BITES

Make ahead of time and throw in the fridge and you have a great breakfast for a rushed morning or a nice mid day snack (OR BOTH). These bites are packed with protein and complex carbs so you have sustainable energy throughout the day.

Ingredients
1 cup peanut butter or almond butter
1/2 cup pumpkin purée
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats
1/4 cup chia seeds
1 TBS pumpkin spice
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips or sub with cranberries, chopped pecans or raisins

Procedure
1. Stir all the ingredients
2. Place batter in the freezer for 15-20 minutes
3. Take out of freezer and roll into balls
4. Store in an air right container and throw in the fridge. Good for up to a week.
5. Enjoy!

All hail pizza night 🙌

BBQ chicken pizza
Recipe adapted from Food Network Ingredients
1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for brushing
Can Pillsbury pizza crust
1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
8 oz skinless, boneless chicken breast
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
2/3 cup grated smoked gouda cheese (about 3 ounces)
2/3 cup grated part-skim mozzarella cheese (about 3 ounces)
1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
Fresh cilantro, for topping

Procedure
Preheat oven to 425
In a small bowl mix 1 tsp olive oil with 2 tbs BBQ sauce and brush mixture over chicken. Season with salt and pepper and place in oven on baking dish until fully cooked. (About 20 minutes)

Once chicken is cooked, take out and let cool, then cut into bite sized pieces.

Take out Pillsbury artesian crust and roll onto greased baking sheet or pizza pan. Top with about 1/3 cup bbq sauce, shredded Gouda, and mozzarella. Add onions and chicken and top with more cheese or sauce if desired.

Let pizza cook for 9-12 minutes. Once crusts are golden brown, take out and sprinkle with cilantro.

Enjoy!

Coconut Matcha Energy Bites

Ingredients
1 cup pitted dates
1 TBS pure maple syrup
1/2 cup almonds
1/3 cup h**p seeds
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
1 TBS DAVIDsTEA matcha powder

Procedure
Combine all ingredients in food processor or high speed blender and blend until all ingredients form a sticky/crumbly paste. Won't be completely smooth, just make sure there are no big pieces. Once processed take out a large spoonful at a time and form bite sized balls in your hand. Put in a bowl and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes.
Sprinkle with more matcha (optional)
Enjoy!

Yay for smoothie weather! 👏👏👏

Vegan Pumpkin Pie Protein Smoothie

Ingredients
1/3 cup unsweetened SSilkvanilla almond milk
1/4 cup pumpkin purée
2 TBS pure maple syrup (or to taste)
2 TBS h**p seeds (optional)
1 scoop vegan vanilla protein powder
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Handful crushed ice

Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. I added some homemade granola and pumpkin pie spice to the top and poured into a martini glass.
Enjoy!
