In adulthood, Alex for about 10 years operated the reputable San Francisco Optics, est. 1979, his family’s optical boutique in San Francisco. Aft
er years of building up a large celebrity clientele alongside actors, politicians & athletes, and of modifying other frames to better fit clients, Alex’s experience as an optician and eyewear stylist became the foundation of his new role as a designer. Alexander Daas launched his own eyewear line, Alexander Daas in 2010 out of San Francisco. Nationally distributed, San Diego’s Gaslamp district later became home to the designer’s eyewear showroom, design studio and distribution headquarters in Spring of 2013. The following Fall, the first Daas Optique by Alexander Daas opened by acquisition of a five-year-old optical boutique location in Larchmont Village, Los Angeles – a quaint shopping & dining neighborhood near Hollywood, Windsor Square and Hancock Park. A couple of months later, the second location was opened by acquisition of a more than two-decade-old optical location in the San Fernando Valley – this was originally the first high-end optical boutique to serve the Studio City community in Los Angeles.
