Fabrizio Billi and his laboratory team at OHRC uses 3D printing as part of their basic research projects. In this crisis situation, they have joined others on the UCLA campus to use 3D printing to make face shield personal protective equipment for UCLA Health personnel caring for COVID19 patients.

100 shields can be produced each day but the team is working on designs solely involving laser cutting that could increase the rate to more than 1,000 per day.
