This wonderful woman is retiring after spending decades caring for patients. I have known her my entire medical career. I first met her as an intern in general surgery . I have had the privilege to work with her all the way through and now as an attending attending. You will be missed and thank you for all your service.

We hate to see you go, but we love to watch you leave! Today is discharge day for patient, Jerry. Jerry came to Keck Medicine of USC all the way from Las Vegas. When he got to our hospital, Jerry was in cardiogenic shock and his LVEF was 20%. At the time of evaluation, Jerry was not a heart transplant candidate, but that did not mean it was the end of the road for Jerry.

Jerry was supported on an Abiomed Impella 5.5 until he was able to be implanted with the Abbott HeartMate III LVAD by our expert cardiothoracic surgery team at Keck Medicine of USC.

Getting patients to successfully discharge home takes a village of skilled nurses, cardiologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, critical care physicians, VAD Coordinators, PT/OT, dieticians, respiratory therapists, CNAs.. just to name a few!

We are so lucky at the Keck Medicine of USC Heart Transplant & MCS to work with such a dedicated team of compassionate individuals that turn patient stories, like Jerry's, into a success! Together we are
