So many carry shame about their trauma, as if it proves they’ve failed or should be able to “get over it” alone.
Even if we know this isn’t true, these old conclusions live deep in the body, where thinking can’t reach.
We live in a culture that glorifies self-reliance while the tribe has fractured, leaving many to carry unbearable pain in isolation. But as relational beings, we are wired to heal together.
Another’s steady nervous system can widen our window of tolerance, allowing fear, grief, and anxiety to be held in ways that aren’t possible alone.
If you want to help someone in your life, help them to feel safe. In that sanctuary, the frozen places of the soul can begin to breathe again.
