𝟭. 𝗔𝗠𝗔 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
American Medical Association 2025 Fragrance Regulation (H-135.902) encourages: “...health care facilities, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to adopt and promote fragrance-free policies...”

The AMA also “...recognizes that some environmental exposures may have the potential to substantially limit major life activities of an individual with fragrance sensitivity and related disorders.”

𝟮. 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿𝘀
The U.S. recognizes 26 allergenic fragrance chemicals commonly used in fragrance formulas; the U.K. has identified 81 since 2023.

Skin issues such as contact dermatitis and airborne contact dermatitis often improve once patients recognize fragranced laundry, cleaning and personal care products are triggers.

𝟯. 𝗔𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗺𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗜𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀
Exposure to fragrance chemicals (synthetic and natural) can increase histamine release, inflame airways, and trigger asthma.

𝟰. 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗶𝗿 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Fragrances can release volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including neurotoxic, estrogen-mimicking, and endocrine-disrupting chemicals.

Some common fragrance chemicals have been shown to react with indoor air to form formaldehyde and other toxicants.

The EPA reports indoor air pollution can be 2-5 times higher (sometimes 100× higher) than outdoor levels.

𝟱. 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗺𝗼𝗸𝗲.

Fragrance is not limited to perfume. It is emitted from scented laundry, cleaning, and personal care products, including lotions, sanitizers, and deodorants.

For optimal health and recovery, unscented air has become an essential component of patient care. Clean air is scent-free.
