The best way to make children good is to make them happy 💛
Kids don’t need perfection, they need joy. When we give them laughter, love, and play, they grow into their best selves 🌈✨

Looking back on the past few school years, we’ve seen how unpredictable life can be — from Covid shutdowns to fires to all the unexpected changes in between. But what’s carried us through has always been community. 💪💛 Together with families, teachers, and our students, we’ve learned that joy and resilience walk hand in hand.

And that’s why we’ll keep choosing happiness first. Because when children feel happy and supported, everything else follows. 🌟

Your child’s food preferences and smell reactions aren’t “picky” or “weird” — they’re sensory needs. 💛
Back-to-school season brings lots of new tastes and smells. With patience and small supports, kids can feel more at ease.

Next week: Proprioception 💪 (the hidden sense that makes kids crash into couches, squeeze their pencil too hard, or crave big hugs).

Back-to-school season always feels a little extra special at Park Century School 💚For years, we’ve had the joy of being part of this incredible community — working side by side with teachers, students, and families to make sure every child has the support they need. So grateful for our family! And so excited to work with their new Interim Head of School, Matthew Stewart hailing from New York.✨

From setting up sensory spaces to building routines that help the day flow, our team has seen firsthand how the smallest adjustments can create the biggest wins. But what really makes Park Century shine is the kids: the way students embrace their unique strengths, how teachers and aids pour into every single learner, and the families who show so much encouragement and support.

We’re so grateful to continue this journey together, and watching students grow year after year. Here’s to another amazing school year in Culver City! 📚✨

✏️Back-to-school season can bring out all the tactile sensitivities: itchy uniforms, stiff shoes, crowded hallways, sticky glue, finger paints, even the scratch of a pencil on paper.

For some kids, those small things feel huge.
For others, they can’t get enough — they touch everything in sight.

The tactile sense is our ability to process touch, and when it’s out of balance, the school day can feel overwhelming before class even starts.

If your child is extra sensitive to clothes, textures, or “sticky” school supplies right now — you’re not alone. Their nervous system is adjusting to a big sensory shift. With understanding and support, they’ll find their balance. 💛

Next Friday: Taste + Smell

Save this post to look back on during those school mornings 🌿

Do small things with great love.” – Mother Teresa 🌿

We believe little steps matter. Whether it’s tying a shoe, trying a new food, or practicing handwriting—when done with love and patience, those “small things” grow into big victories. 💛

Here’s your midweek reminder: wellness isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about showing up with heart, one step at a time! 🙏

Back-to-school means new classrooms, new routines… and a lot of new sounds. 📣

For some kids, that’s exciting.
For others, it’s overwhelming.

The auditory sense isn’t just about hearing — it’s about how the brain organizes and reacts to sounds.

🎧That’s why one child might cover their ears at the cafeteria, while another turns up the volume on everything. Both are trying to find balance.

This doesn’t just apply to kids of course, but adults as well! We all need a little support and regulation sometimes! ✨

One foot in still in summer and the other in the school year? 🌻

✏️Back to school isn’t just for kids: it means teachers, parents, and support systems like OTs are shifting into high gear. This week we’re taking time to plan ahead because that’s what fall is all about 🍂. Getting grounded and setting intentions to make the most of the year.

🗓️What’s on your calendar for the fall?

✨ “The greatest privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” – Carl Jung

Every child is on journey of learning, growing, and slowly uncovering their authentic self. Pediatric therapy isn’t just about skills, it’s about creating a safe space where kids can ‘become’.

Each week is an opportunity for all of us to move a little closer to who we truly are! 💫

When we say “visual skills,” most people think about 20/20 eyesight…but in OT, we’re looking at so much more. The visual sense is your child’s ability to interpret and use what they see.

Here’s why it matters:
✔ Guides handwriting, spacing, and letter formation
✔ Helps keep place while reading
✔ Supports memory for shapes, words, and patterns
✔ Affects coordination for sports and play

Signs your child might be struggling:
• Skips lines or words while reading
• Trouble copying from the board or a book
• Bumps into things or seems “clumsy”
• Gets tired quickly during visual tasks

💡 The good news? Visual processing can improve with practice. OTs use playful, hands-on activities like puzzles, mazes, ball games, and building to strengthen these skills.

Next Friday: Auditory sense — and why it’s the most misunderstood sense of all 👂

Back to School is just around the corner 📚🤓

Our biggest OT takeaway: Kids thrive on structure + movement + sensory prep.

A calm, predictable start to the day can really help make mornings better, and it sets the tone for the whole school day!

What’s a staple in your school day routine? 🚌💛

In OT, our goal isn’t to press kids into a one-size-fits-all mold—it’s to help them grow into their shape. 🌱✨

Every child has their own strengths, challenges, and spark. When we create the right environment—full of play, movement, and encouragement—they naturally unfold into the most confident, capable version of themselves.

We’re not building mini-adults. We’re nurturing unique humans. 💛

✨Quote by: Jess Lair was an American author and motivational speaker, best known for his work in the 1960s–1980s on personal development, parenting, and education. Fun fact: a lot of his ideas were early precursors to what modern OT and child-led learning advocate today.

mOST Wonderful Beginnings

Morgan Occupational and Speech Therapy (mOST) is a boutique therapy clinic providing professional, personalized, high-quality pediatric occupational therapy and speech therapy services conveniently in our Malibu sensory gym, local private schools, and Southern California homes. Our goal is to create opportunities for your child to achieve independence and success as efficiently as possible, ultimately reaching their highest potential for learning, play, communication, and life skills.

Jennifer Morgan, CEO and Occupational Therapist, founded mOST in August of 2013 while working in Malibu public schools with a vision to make occupational therapy and speech therapy more convenient, efficient and fun for both the developing child and the involved parents.

In the Fall of 2014, Jennifer created the new Occupational Therapy program at Park Century School, an innovative institution that specializes in preparing students with learning differences for high school and beyond. She is thrilled to have her services with mOST become a part of Park Century School’s academic and enrichment program, and she has enjoyed watching the OT program at Park Century School become an even more comprehensive curriculum for its students.

Jennifer’s specialized training includes Handwriting Without Tears, Interactive Metronome, Reflex Integration, Sensory Processing Integration, ALERT Program, and more. Parents, teachers, professionals, and especially the children she works with, enjoy having Jennifer as their OT; they appreciate her expertise, and her efficient and direct approach to helping them grow to their fullest potential. Jennifer’s practice allows her the freedom to work on a wide range of skills with clients, and she tailors a unique therapeutic program for each child.
