Los Angeles Compassionate Heart Sangha Every Sunday from 11:00am to 1:00pm PT in person at the Zen Center AND on Zoom. Check out our website where you can sign up for our mailing list!

Please contact us by email (lachsangha@yahoo.com) to receive the Zoom ID and passcode. Beginners welcome! The Los Angeles Compassionate Heart Sangha is a warm, eclectic group of all ages and ethnicities practicing Zen Buddhism in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. We vary in our experience with meditation and the overall study of Buddhism but share a commonality of purpose in our sincere desire to

engage in mindfulness, compassion and loving kindness in our daily lives. Our weekly Sangha meetings support each other's practice of the Dharma. On Sundays from 11:00am to 1:00pm PT, we meet at Angel City Zen Center in Silver Lake/Echo Park (Los Angeles) AND on Zoom. Email us at lachsangha@yahoo.com for our Zoom ID and passcode. Along with sitting and walking meditation, at our meetings we read from Buddhist writings by Thich Nhat Hanh, listen to Dharma talks, recite the Five and Fourteen Mindfulness Trainings, sing, chant and share in Dharma discussions. We are meeting every Sunday. Join us as early as 10:45am PT. To receive our weekly email announcements, sign up at our website: lachsangha.wixsite.com/breathe

"The Sangha has a collective energy. Without this energy, the practice of individual transformation is not easy... the energy of the Sangha body has the capacity to protect and transform us... all we have to do is to make our contribution to that energy. It is the most precious work a [person] can do." - Thich Nhat Hanh

Many wonderful resources related to racial mindfulness and literacy are available. To provide easy access, LACH Sangha now has a Padlet so that anyone who would like to continue learning and reflecting on this topic may do so. Also great resources like videos and articles to share with family and friends. Check it out here if you’re interested. (Thanks to Sangha sister Kate!). Also if you have good resources that you think would be of benefit to others, feel free to add them!

Some Sangha members have been staying on Zoom after our recent Sangha gatherings to discuss topics of social justice and mindfulness of race, and how our Sangha can deepen our understanding of them. If you have been unable to participate in these conversations and would like to get info on what is discussed or have questions on the topic, four Sangha members are available for one-on-one phone conversations. Email us at lachsangha@yahoo.com for their contact information.

We had an amazing Sangha last week with Sister Hai An! Here is a poem she read which brought us to tears.

Even a wounded world is feeding us.
Even a wounded world holds us, giving us moments of wonder and joy.
I choose joy over despair.
Not because I have my head in the sand, but because joy is what the earth gives me daily and I must return the gift.
