You don’t have to be in a yoga studio to be practicing yoga. Often our best practices are outside the studio.

The intensity of navigating traffic when you have somewhere to go is not that different from the intensity of holding a pose while remaining focused and allowing things to become uncomfortable. Learning to be in the fire without being caught up in it is one of the keys to a yoga practice.

Think of your practice space as a microcosm of the rest of your life. Yoga doesn’t turn down the heat or take away all of the stress in your life. Yoga helps you focus on changing your relationship to the fire by learning to be in the fire.

Yoga teaches us to surrender and let go. When you are in the fire, what are your tools? Your breath. So breathe. Surrender. Give up control. When something is rocking your boat—let it go.

Surrender. Accept the situation exactly as it is. It doesn’t matter if you get upset the traffic isn’t going to move any faster. If you feel yourself becoming agitated try to just observe your thoughts and your emotions. Let them come up and then let them go. Watch what comes up for you without becoming caught up in it.

Take a moment and offer gratitude for something or someone in your life and for this moment and everything that has led you up to this moment.

Let someone in. Don’t flip anyone off. Take your yoga with you.

I've been doing a lot of high intensity exercises lately and I've been loving every minute of it. The funny thing is I feel the most in my hip flexors. Here are some of the reliefs that I do:

Do you sit too much during the day? Suffer from stiff hips? Lengthen and strengthen your hip flexors with deep hip openers like Boat Pose and Pigeon.

No matter how hard you try, you can’t control everything. So just relax and let the chaos do whatever it’s going to do anyway. Life’s too short to worry so much.

A lot of people suffer from lower back pain and it has to do with our sciatic nerve. It’s the longest nerve in our body from our back all the way down to our knees. This illustration is easy to follow and I reckon most people will be able to do. Go only as far as your body lets you. Listen to it. That’s the key.

If you are not that big of a visual person and you can just follow along with verbal cues, this free app is perfect for you. My favorite teacher in LA is also a trainer on this app (I am not being paid to say any of this). Everything costs an arm and a leg these days, so how do you stay active and not have to worry about affordability? I’ve got to share this with you all!

Apart from yoga classes, this app has other exercises as well. Check it out and see if it’s right for you. Enjoy!

I'm working out with ClassPass Go. I think you'd love it.

The older I get, the more aware I am of what my body's telling me. More often than not, it's "do more stretching", "breathe intentionally", "take some time"....I love this article because you don't need any props to get some self care and do some restorative yoga poses. Hope you'll enjoy this.

No bolsters, blankets, and blocks? No problem. This simple restorative yoga practice uses just one strap to help you drop into bliss.
