Toxicity isn’t just something we talk about in romantic relationships - it also shows up in friendships. 💭

Friendships can hold unhealthy patterns too, and I hope this brings some clarity to those that may be unsure of how to navigate these dynamics. From boundary crossings to emotional imbalance, these dynamics deserve just as much attention and care. 🫶🏾

Friendship is a skill, and one we can all work to strengthen.

I was recently joined by Jenna Ryu, Lifestyle Writer at SELF Magazine, and we unpacked why platonic relationships deserve the same care, communication, and courage we bring to romantic ones. From hard conversations to intentional nurturing, our friendships shape us just as deeply - sometimes even more.

If you’ve ever wondered how to build friendships that actually last, this one’s for you. 🎧 Tune in to "Friendship is a Skill with Jenna Ryu," anywhere you get your podcasts.

Studies show that positive relationships with a strong sense of trust can lead to higher levels of happiness and life satisfaction. 💛 So, what can we do to secure that trust, while still protecting ourselves?

If you can identify where your trust has been broken in the past, consider whether you’re still carrying that hurt, and possibly projecting it onto those who didn’t cause it. 💭

As we settle into the New Year, many of us intend to clear space and make room for a more authentic version of ourselves. ✨

Oftentimes, the ways we curate our spaces can mirror our lives — Polished on the outside, with much more brewing under the surface.

Scientist, organization expert, and founder of Closet Therapy and Social Brunch Club, Shaneice Jones recently joined me on Like-Minded and shared her insights on clearing space to embrace who we truly are. If you’re considering taking the leap to tackle the physical and mental clutter, stream “Closet Therapy: Decluttering the Mind with Shaniece Jones” anywhere you get podcasts. 🎧

Happy New Year, everyone! 🎊 Although it’s customary, there’s no reason to wait for a new year to decide you want to make some changes.

We can also take the opportunity to think outside of the traditional resolutions - losing weight, exercising more often, saving money. Of course, those are all fine if you feel it will improve your quality of life. But, I think that in a year when many of us are already feeling overwhelmed (and maybe even helpless some days!), I’m choosing to focus on things that keep me in tune with my beliefs.

I’m buying locally, from small businesses and businesses that align with my values (no Target or Amazon for me since the start of 2025). Everyday I wear and use items from black- and female-owned companies. It may not be much, and it’s not for everyone, but it’s a little reminder to myself that I always have some power in what can feel like a crazy and chaotic world.

What are some ways you plan to stay aligned with your values this year and in the future? ✨

S*x ed never taught us this: The hardest conversations are the ones that build connection. People avoid tough conversations in relationships to:

✨ Not scare off their partner
✨ Maintain a certain image
✨ Keep the peace

But staying silent? It quietly builds distance. What’s one conversation you’ve been putting off?

Hear all of this and more in the latest episode of Like-Minded, “How Do You Like It? With Dr. Tara Suwinyattichaiporn.” 💫

Stereotypes are often misleading - And they can have a psychological impact on those they frame in a certain light. 💭

In Dr. Tara's case, being born in Thailand gave her an unspoken stamp of modesty. In a country that is often seen as very sexually liberal, she had a vastly different experience. On this week’s episode of Like-Minded, she shares how subliminal messages and sexual repression shaped her and the relationship she developed with sexual self-esteem.

If you’ve ever questioned your sexual confidence or the social constructs that come along with it, you won’t want to miss this episode. Tune in NOW to “How Do You Like It? With Dr. Tara Suwinyattichaiporn,” anywhere you get your podcasts. 🎙️

If you’ve ever felt like you experience more failures than wins, you’re not alone. 🤝🏾 Remember: There is opportunity on the other side of failure.

As you navigate the ups and downs, find the value in failing fast, not taking it personally, and letting each misstep become a blueprint for the next attempt. Failure is not a final sentence, it’s an invitation to:
➡️ Pivot
➡️ Grow
➡️ Experiment
➡️ Try again

Lately, I’ve been hooked on Diary of a CEO. From a therapist's POV, there’s something fascinating about hearing people share their experiences and turn them into lessons for other people. It’s a reminder that growth looks different for everyone, and that’s what makes this work so human. 💭
